@tippmannguntech Recon observation and infiltration can take days to move short distances and is thoroughly unpleasant. Speed is not always essential and if it is, other techniques would be used.

Remember to bend the grass (matting) by sweeping softly across it and not to cause it to break by treading directly downwards on it, so as not to leave a trail. Nature photographers use this when they need to get closer to animals which could be startled by noise. Animals which have eyes on the sides of their heads, which are not looking directly at you do not always perceive distance ie objects moving closer. Approaching downwind is also essential due to natural scents.

@jsamboy breathing steadily out with each step, causes the body to relax and this in turn causes a more fluid motion. There are many additional points which also require attention, such as moving in short, accurate steps, like a chameleon or tiger. Always in control of each aspect of stillness and motion. Camouflaged clothing (disruptive pattern materials/ dpm) causes natural pixellation. See 'S.H.I.N.E' in military camo application.

You have to understand that he is showing you the technique of movement, it may take ages just to move a couple of steps as you may have sticks or roughage out of the way. Have a look at scout snipers they move a large mass across distance, you are right you have to consider what you are wearing but I don't think they had sneakers back in feudal days :P.

It wouldn't work with army boots, alot Ninjutsu techniques are based on Japanese clothing, buildings, shoes ect. Alot of Ninjutsu won't work unless it is used for what it was used for. Most Ninjutsu students are white Anime kids from the US or UK. Ninjutsu is something that you live, you can't go to a weekly class and expect to be good at being a ninja, not to mention modern society does not need ninjas anymore lol But, it is an awesome tradition and should be kept alive
