This match took place in my home town of Richmond VA, I couldn't be there @ this one, but I tell'ya; after seeing this match I wish I was. Lesnar wasn't quite the monstr he would later become, he was also just a bit green here as well...Thats why they made him job to Hennig in a dark match, but even as short as this vid is it looked like it had the potential to be a ringmat classic.
@saznrai a dark match is a match before, and/or after the actual event takes place. for example on Monday Night Raw, before or after the show starts, there will be a "dark match", that only the present spectators can watch. "dark matches" are for testing out new talent.
Those are some cool tights that Lesnar is wearing. And yeah, I'm shocked to see Perfect win it. But then I read that it was from January and it made more sense. Still, in hindsight, it's Brock Lesnar and I can't believe that he got pinned by Perfect.
@KittColby That comment sort of reminds me of a column I read shortly after Lesnar made his TV debut, critisizing the fact that he was pushed as a monster instead of what the columnist called a "badass" heel (along the lines of how HHH was pushed). Just wonder if people would be so amazed to see Perfect beat Lesnar if he had been introduced as such.

I LOVED it when Mr. Perfect returned to the WWF. I just hated the fact that for many of his matches, he recieved little to no reaction from the crowd. That still bugs me.
@hitmanfan24 that's mainly because of the fact it's a new generation of viewers. The same thing happened when Grandmaster Sexay returned. Same with a lot of the WWE legends/HOFers

@browneye1968 A dark match is a match that occurs usually before a TV taping that does not make it onto air. It's a way to evaluate talent in front of a big audience and to get the crowd hyped up before the show begins.
We only see it as a matter of having the belt, I'm sure the guys from Henning's era cared more about the business and being a good worker than having a belt.

@666TheBloodLust666 It is true that Mr. Perfect held the title way back in the before time when titles actually meant something. Roddy Piper, Mr. Perfect, Scott Hall ect. All greats who deserved the big title but could never get a run due to HHH or what is more commonly known as Hulk Hogan's Happiness syndrome.
@TombstoneInc It was much different in those days. A title reign now has a quicker turnover than it used to before the mid 90's, when weekly flagship wrestling shows came on the scene. There were so many wrestlers, and only a few different titles, that in order to sell the big stars, they had to put the strap on someone for a very long time. Unfortunately, guys like Piper and Perfect, their turns did not come up.
@TombstoneInc Hennig's back problems prevented him from winning the world title in either company. He wouldn't have been able to sustain a consistent reign.
@OneDownServer Like the dark match at Capitol Punishment was (I think) Heath Slater and Gabriel vs someone probably for the Tag Team titles.

@TombstoneInc It was much different in those days. A title reign now has a quicker turnover than it used to before the mid 90's, when weekly flagship wrestling shows came on the scene. There were so many wrestlers, and only a few different titles, that in order to sell the big stars, they had to put the strap on someone for a very long time. Unfortunately, guys like Piper and Perfect, their turns did not come up.
