@klard - I left a lot out since we are limited to 500 chars. I was using this man's well-known culture as well in my analysis. The translator heard "CLINTON" and was confused as the man did not say "OBAMA" in the mike. Later after Hillary's remarks he corrected himself. So even though they blamed it on interpreter it was the man's fault.

Well, she was obviously peeved, but I'd always prefer a politician with feelings rather than one who's good at pretending. And compared to the (admittedly amusing) blunders of Biden and McCain, this was harmless.

I don't think it was an error. You don't make an error like that. He paused and said "Mr. Clinton" very purposefully. If the questioner had said Obama, which cannot be confused with "Clinton" he would have translated it as Obama. There was no error, and Hillary had every right to respond the way she did. I really enjoy this conversation for all the Americans I've met so far were smart and friendly people and I always wondered why those they show on TV appeared to be so, well, limited. Now I know!

I am allowing nobody to tell me what's up. Why should we get penalized for having nothing. I haven't had health insurance for 6 years. Why would Obama act like he cares? Hillary had every right to be pissed off. After all, she had just come back from a meeting where she listened to the stories of rape victims, which must have been pretty hard and emotionally exhausting.
And then there's somebody who asks her to act as a mouthpiece ... After all, African issues have always been much more on her agenda than on Bill's, both during his presidency and afterwards. It should be HER opinion people should be interested in - she's not somebody's substitute!

Just because you are educated (however elite your university is) does not make you a diplomat. People go and study diplomacy. HC was a wrong choice for this position, I said that before she was even appointed, and its funny I used to say she will be set up in some fashion somewhere around the world (but I don't think this was the case).

I agree... she has NO BUSINESS being Sec of State. this was an appointment by Obama as collateral for Hillary agreeing to bow out of the presidential race and for her (and Bill) to not stir up trouble by attempting to hi-jack Obama's contest versus John McCain.... by her keeping her mouth shut and playing the good democrat "supporter" Obama promised her a position.

Even as a conservative I don't blame HC for being pissed about this. I would point out, however, that the questioner is a 16 year old Congolese girl speaking through a translator. As the Secretary of State of the United States a more gracious response may have started with "Why don't I tell you what my opinion is on Chinese trade with the Congo." It took guts for the kid to ask the question, Hilary shouldn't have gone bitchy as is her natural tendency.
