Perfect! I've been researching tremolo blocking for a while. Aside from the chunk of wood mod all other methods required me to drill a hole or alter my guitar in a way that would be permanent. The fact that I can install the Tremol-No and still be able to return my guitar to stock is what sold me. Besides, the simplicity of switching between hard tail, dive only and free floating is just awesome. Can't wait to get mine.
@gnrcr why would you put it in a strat man... its not for that... strat is already in a "dive only mode"... unless you would put a floyd rose on your strat... and dont forget the locking nut...
i was planing to sell my guitar i love to play because i never used the trem but i liked the feel of it and it was allways a drag to change strings and what ever, but this just solves everything!
hmm... this Tremol-no is a really good design, but i have my complaints about it... one, with those thumbscrews to set hardtail mode in, but you're not IN hardtail mode, standing up, without a backplate, those screws are loose and will fall out. i've already lost one from that. so i just keep them in my pocket rather than leave em in.
also, the piston design creates friction and it's a small detriment to tuning. not too noticeable when playing, though, but i'm OCD.
so this is for people who don't want to do dimebag squeals and other cool stuff?
the inly reason i would buy this is for the dive only mode so i can tune i to a different tuning and then after that switch back to full floating mode
@wrestlingfan12321 You can't. Or you can...with help of an hex wrench. So you have to say to guys in the band "hold on a minute while I tune to my original tuning and after that move the Deep-C with a wrench."
@wrestlingfan12321 Fine. Just don't expect heaven. The Tremol-no "deep-C" locking thumbwheel (which is operated by your fingers) can only just hold going from low E to D...but now, if you rest your hand on your trem a little pressure wil push it totaly out of tune. To really lock the "Deep-C" thumbwheel you have to remove this thumwheel and replace it with an allen screw. By now you can not switch from dive-only mode to free-floating without using a hex wrench. Don't say I did not warn you.
@wrestlingfan12321 Again: You can not change from dive-only to full floating without a allan key. It just doesn't hold down tunings with that (deep-c) thumbwheel because the tremolo slips totaly out of tune just by resting your hand on the tremolo. Therefore you have to change that thumbwheel for a allan screw to hold down tunings secure. Tremolo-no is a product which is not yet perfect and the inventor should improve on what could be a very nice product...which it isn't just yet.
I had to replace the "Deep-C" thumbwheel for the allen screw to hold any other downtuning then E to D...with the "Deep-C" (funny name) thumbwheel I could not rest my hand on the trem as it was out of tune with the slightest pressure. So I'm stuck with a trem that go's down only which can not change to floating "on the fly" as in this video. Just saying.
Hey Kev...remember me? I'm the guy you shipped the ART to in SC about 10 years ago. I'll never forget the day it showed up at my office! I left work early that day!
Anywho, hope you're well! Contact me at awbx100@optimum.net. I'll tell you some interesting Tremol-No stories!
if i want to tune from e standard to drop b or something like that (if the guitar is in hardtail mode) do i have to do anything special? or can i just down tune
can i go from standard e tuning to drop c or d standard and back again when the bridge is locked with out merssing with the spring tension at the back ??
I got one of these for my Floyd Rose equipped EC-1000. It works perfectly (I have tested it with an electronic tuner), I can drop tune and bend strings without the others going out of tune. This is a truly amazing product and a must buy for anyone with a floating bridge guitar.
So someone tell me, If i had this installed (lets say in standard E) and i unlock the head nuts and de-tune my guitar down to drop A (not using the fine tuners) then lock it back up, this will work?
So I'm buying a new guitar with floyd rose and my past guitars havent had this type of bridge before so I have never had any experience with tune locking. I understand how it keeps the guitar in tune etc. etc. But I play alot of hardcore and metal that alternates between the dropped tunings. So basically what your saying is that if I install the tremolno I can change my tunings?
@98767jack if you lock it, you can change tunings but it will have to stay locked. however, if you want to use the trem, you WILLhave to reset the entire trem which is a serious pain in the ass haha. but if the tremol-no is in fixed bridge mode, you can go from standard to drop F# if you want without resetting anything. make sense?
@aph613 no. its not a quick tuning device. you still need to loosen the springs in back in order for the trem to stay in tune after unlocking the tremol-no
I've had this thing for a couple of years for my Licensed Floyd Rose. It's awesome to be able to tune down to drop D and stuff like that. Saying that it works "just like a hardtail would" is not true, though. It is better than before, but you can still hear that it's a Floyd Rose equipped guitar. I have tightened everything there is to tighten, and yet the bridge isn't completely hardtail. Just FYI. I still think it's a great product.
@thomascatlett555 replacing a floating tremolo is a pain in the ass, your best bet would be to get this tremol-no, or get a new guitar with a fixed bridge
Is it possible to put this in hardtail mode and keep my tuning stability that comes with my floyd rose? I don't even use my tremolo, I just like the tuning stability. If not, I can still use my guitar like it's a hardtail, and dick around with whatever tunings I want without screwing anything up, right?
Wow, definitely worth buying. I like floating bridges, but not being able to drop tune on the fly is a pain in the ass. And if you don't have the money for multiple guitars for different tunings, like most people, this is a life saver.
@Petruccinho Yup, I've tried and it works great for me. I've even put my Ibanez RG in Drop C just to see what would happen and I didn't have any problems with it. Sure, the string-tension dropped but that's not due to the tremol-no.
is it possible to install tremol-no, and then change strings to more heavy gauge and tune guitar to the other tuning?sorry for bad english. i hope you will understand this post.
So will this work similarly to the tremsetter in the sense that it will bring the trem back to zero point in dive only mode? Pretty much the only thing Ill use it for is hardtail and dive only. Im not asking about if it breaks a string. Im asking about it bringing the trem back to zero after I dive in dive only mode. Thanks!
I definitely dig the tremol-no but, i still prefer a straight up hardtail for tone and setups. Once i can "afford a tech" i may go to trem loaded again but, i hate setting up floating trem bridges and they always take away attack. I usualy use taps and double bends to simulate a trem but, a couple axes with a trem and a 'no' would be nice to have still. I LOVE the Ibanez with the maple fretboard. I'm more of a soloist and SG guy but, those were sweet customs.
Is there any device in where I happen to break a string, and I'm in full-floating mode, and still be in tune? If not, I'll still use this device because it's quite brilliant just for the dive-only and hardtail mode. Cheers.
Hi! I just put Tremol-No in my guitar. When I put the guitar on Hard-tail mode, I tested it by using the whammy bar to depress it. And it moves a little bit, is that normal? P.S, it doesnt move easily, but it does move.
so, on the dive-only deep-c mode, can I tune the guitar without unlocking the the nut on my floyd rose?? I tried to switch from drop A(seven string) to standard...and back forth. Takes too long and my tuning is not-stable!!
@swimmerforlife789 Bringing the tuning up will cause the trem to move forward and make the rest of your strings go out of tune. Deep-C mode will only work for down tuning because down tuning causes the bridge to go back into the trem cavity. You can go from standard to drop A but not drop A to standard, hope this helps.
@countmysheep Thank You! What I meant on my comment was that I wanted to use the Deep-C to do drop tuning from Standard(7 String). Now that I know Deep-C will let me do that tuning, I can't for Tremol-no to come in the mail next week!!
So could you set the tremol-no to hardtail mode when you're changing strings to make the whole process much easier? (The tuning/string changing issues with trem-equipped guitars are one of the big reasons I stay clear of them.)
@SteeleInd I just got a Tremol-no just for that purpose. I'm using it to block the tremelo instead of the traditional block or stop. The Floyd Rose rep says that this is the most important thing in tuning after changing strings (block the tremelo). There is a great video on youtube that shows how to do this.
@SteeleInd BTW EBAY is the best source for a good price. The AllParts site had the Tremel-no at 70.00. EBAY you can get it for around 50.00 shipping included.
Hey , thanks!!! what is the diference between the Large Clamp one the Large Clamp one and the Pin Type though? and wich one would work better ion a floyd rose guitar ?
I bought a Tremol-No for my guitar, but I can't install it because holes for those two screws in the spring cavity were drilled right on my guitar (they're not aligned) so when I install the Tremol-No it's crooked and I can't put the back cavity cover back on. I have no clue what to do. Any ideas?
Its a really good idea, it just dont work as good as they make it look. The clamp that holds the tremol no to the trem block is way too weak. You have to tighten it down real hard to get it to not pop off, when you do that it bends the clamp and it dont work any more. Had a few other problems with it too.
thats a shame, i came on here to see what people were saying about it. id probably still give it a try if it wasnt 80, id make one myself for cheaper :)
@Mthooz i just installed mine. It works but not as well as I had hoped. If your in dive only and pull up on accident it gets moved out of position and if your in hardtail and bump it then it gets stuck in the wrong tuning until you pull up a little. It seems like you have to be careful and probably remove the tremolo bar if your in hardtail.
Yeah - the strength of the screws is pretty weak - you really have to make sure you don't bump the bridge when you are in hard tail mode otherwise the clamp will slip... and yeah you either get suck in the wrong tuning or you lose hard tail mode.
The clamp just does not hold on tight enough.
Anyone of the designers or sellers of the tremolno care to comment or give advice about this??????
You're correct. The unit is designed to slip if too much pressure is put on it (like with a trem arm). This prevents damage to the guitar/trem/trem arm.
Remove the trem arm and put it in your back pocket. That's a visual and physical indicator that you've got the Tremol-No engaged.
Ok I understand... The main reason I bought the Tremol-No is so I can have a fixed bridge. I don't really use the whammy bar, so its never in place anyway. The annoying thing was when I use palm muting and put some pressure on the bridge it slips.
I screwed the tremol-No clamps down real tight until it was digging into the metal! This seems to hold it ok. I guess I would have been better off using a block of wood for hardtail mode!
But thanx for the explanation, which does make sense.
I've been interested in this device for a long time! I have a few guitars with trems, though. If I decide to install the unit in different guitars, will it be able to take the stress of being uninstalled/reinstalled several times over it's lifespan? Is there any warranty on it?
Unfortunately, this device DOES NOT lock the bridge completely. You're now warned. I still think it's great, because i can tune the low E-string all the way down to Cb. Maybe it can juuuust reach C, but it hasn't been necessary. Yet.
I understand it completely, i bought and installed the device MONTHS ago, and what i'm saying is a fact. However, it is not a real problem. I think it's a little bit too expensive, but whatever.
If your thumbscrews are slipping, that's because they're designed to. This prevents damage to the guitar or other trem components. Easier to re-tune than dig out a broken trem arm or repair stripped out claw screw holes.
Try the (included) set screws instead.
If those move on ya, stop driving over your guitar.
I'm just trying to decide whether to buy Tremol-no, or get locking tuning keys. I have an Ibanez RG350DX but broke the locking nut, and rather than pay LOTS to fix it I thought locking tuning keys might be better. Any help or insight on this would be fantastic.
use ALL the effects!

I just ordered one of these from Floydupgrades, Adam is a great guy to deal with.

So could you set the tremol-no to hardtail mode when you're changing strings to make the whole process much easier? (The tuning/string changing issues with trem-equipped guitars are one of the big reasons I stay clear of them.)
SteeleInd 1 year ago
@SteeleInd I just got a Tremol-no just for that purpose. I'm using it to block the tremelo instead of the traditional block or stop. The Floyd Rose rep says that this is the most important thing in tuning after changing strings (block the tremelo). There is a great video on youtube that shows how to do this.

@MrOrange677
Thanks so much! This will be incredibly useful knowledge when shopping around for my next guitar.
SteeleInd 1 year ago
@SteeleInd BTW EBAY is the best source for a good price. The AllParts site had the Tremel-no at 70.00. EBAY you can get it for around 50.00 shipping included.

Hey , thanks!!! what is the diference between the Large Clamp one the Large Clamp one and the Pin Type though? and wich one would work better ion a floyd rose guitar ?
Ktulu234 1 year ago
@Ktulu234 bought mine on all parts' website.

I bought a Tremol-No for my guitar, but I can't install it because holes for those two screws in the spring cavity were drilled right on my guitar (they're not aligned) so when I install the Tremol-No it's crooked and I can't put the back cavity cover back on. I have no clue what to do. Any ideas?

i loled @ 2:11, also the tremol-no is the greatest invention since the wheel.

Its a really good idea, it just dont work as good as they make it look. The clamp that holds the tremol no to the trem block is way too weak. You have to tighten it down real hard to get it to not pop off, when you do that it bends the clamp and it dont work any more. Had a few other problems with it too.
RIKKILEE2000 2 years ago
Yeah! Totally the same problem that I have... I consider it a WASTE of the 80 bucks I spent on it.
Very disappointed. I strongly recommend AGAINST paying the money for this.
Mthooz 2 years ago
thats a shame, i came on here to see what people were saying about it. id probably still give it a try if it wasnt 80, id make one myself for cheaper :)

Some trem blocks are slicker than others. PRS trem blocks are like polished glass! I've seen geckos slide down Driskill trem blocks.
Get a couple of small pieces of address label (free from the post office). Stick them to your trem block where the T-No clamps on.
Grip problem solved.

will i be able to tune my guitar just like one without FR? Cause thats my Problem.

@loiklaik yes
xxCrackZillaxx 1 year ago
Yes. In Hardtail mode your guitar will function exactly like a fixed bridge guitar.
TremolNo 1 year ago
can you get them in floyd roses/ ibanez edge's and how to they cost and where from???
guitar4evr24 2 years ago
Yes- they work with Floyd Rose tremolo systems.
You can get them from any AllParts dealer or distributor.
Check the website for links.
TremolNo 1 year ago
Instead of thumb screws should use allen key. Then route the cover so that you have access to them.
ronjcharity 2 years ago
The Tremol-No comes with (3) set screws (grub screws) that use an allen wrench to tighten/loosen them.
TremolNo 1 year ago
So if I want to tune to drop B or drop G I would put this in hardtail only mode then tune with the tunning pegs?
rlv1323 2 years ago
Yes.
Make sure your strings and neck can handle the drop tuning!
TremolNo 1 year ago
I find that it's hard to maintain "hard-tail mode"... The slightest bump on the floating bridge makes the Tremolno slip!
I find that i have to tighten the screws very tight in order for it not to slip. Is this normal?
Mthooz 2 years ago
@Mthooz i just installed mine. It works but not as well as I had hoped. If your in dive only and pull up on accident it gets moved out of position and if your in hardtail and bump it then it gets stuck in the wrong tuning until you pull up a little. It seems like you have to be careful and probably remove the tremolo bar if your in hardtail.
flint757 2 years ago
Yeah - the strength of the screws is pretty weak - you really have to make sure you don't bump the bridge when you are in hard tail mode otherwise the clamp will slip... and yeah you either get suck in the wrong tuning or you lose hard tail mode.
The clamp just does not hold on tight enough.
Anyone of the designers or sellers of the tremolno care to comment or give advice about this??????
Mthooz 2 years ago
I replied to you above.
Email me with any other questions.
TremolNo 1 year ago
You're correct. The unit is designed to slip if too much pressure is put on it (like with a trem arm). This prevents damage to the guitar/trem/trem arm.
Remove the trem arm and put it in your back pocket. That's a visual and physical indicator that you've got the Tremol-No engaged.
TremolNo 1 year ago
The Tremol-No is DESIGNED to slip!
It's a safety feature that I built into the units.
It's much easier to re-set your tuning than to replace a broken trem arm or stripped out claw screws.
TremolNo 1 year ago
Ok I understand... The main reason I bought the Tremol-No is so I can have a fixed bridge. I don't really use the whammy bar, so its never in place anyway. The annoying thing was when I use palm muting and put some pressure on the bridge it slips.
I screwed the tremol-No clamps down real tight until it was digging into the metal! This seems to hold it ok. I guess I would have been better off using a block of wood for hardtail mode!
But thanx for the explanation, which does make sense.
Mthooz 1 year ago
can you tune to drop C???
hahafender 2 years ago
Quote from an old e-mail by Kevan:
"The T-No can hold a great amount of tension. You should have no
problem drop-tuning 2 full steps. If the thumbscrews slip, you can use the
set screws (included). In tests, the thumbscrews held a 7-string Ibanez
Universe with a .068 Low B string, dropped a full step."
That's been 2 years ago now... Why didn't I buy this piece back then?! Soon! :)
tl;dr it should be able to handle C-std with a base tuning of E-std, no probs.

Just ordered one. Got a great price. :)
I've been interested in this device for a long time! I have a few guitars with trems, though. If I decide to install the unit in different guitars, will it be able to take the stress of being uninstalled/reinstalled several times over it's lifespan? Is there any warranty on it?
klisk 2 years ago
I'm pretty sure being its all metal it'll last as long if not much longer than a normal tremolo system would.
jazic82 2 years ago
There's a 1 year warranty on the unit through AllParts, and then a lifetime warranty through me.
It should handle being transferred without any issues.

can i use the tremolo for dive bombs or what if i use a hardtail mode???
adit6669 2 years ago
Dive Only mode lets you dive the trem (drop the note pitch).
Hardtail mode makes your trem act exactly like a fixed bridge guitar (trem does not move either way).
TremolNo 1 year ago
Unfortunately, this device DOES NOT lock the bridge completely. You're now warned. I still think it's great, because i can tune the low E-string all the way down to Cb. Maybe it can juuuust reach C, but it hasn't been necessary. Yet.
fusion952 2 years ago
Hmmmm, it looks like hardtail mode DOES lock the bridge completely (1:38)
What are you not understanding about it?
gidawg 2 years ago
I understand it completely, i bought and installed the device MONTHS ago, and what i'm saying is a fact. However, it is not a real problem. I think it's a little bit too expensive, but whatever.
fusion952 2 years ago
If your thumbscrews are slipping, that's because they're designed to. This prevents damage to the guitar or other trem components. Easier to re-tune than dig out a broken trem arm or repair stripped out claw screw holes.
Try the (included) set screws instead.
If those move on ya, stop driving over your guitar.
TremolNo 1 year ago
When in hardtail mode, is string changing easier? Like without adjusting spring tension etc.
lucas3112 2 years ago
I would hope so.
GutWrench95 2 years ago
Yes. You change all the the strings at once, but I recommend you leave at least one string on there (a thick one).
This keeps some counter-tension on the trem, and prevents your neck from becoming a long bow.
TremolNo 1 year ago
what a waste just buy an extra couple of springs and tighten the back.
SoCaldiamond89 2 years ago
It doesn't work that way.
wair138 2 years ago
Yeah it doesn't work like that with floating bridges
hunthunt44 2 years ago
Try that.
Let me know how it works out.
TremolNo 1 year ago
Can you tune drop C with this?
Eddezi 2 years ago
Yes, provided your neck is strong enough and your strings are thick enough to not be floppy-floppy when you drop tune that low.

what a great little add on

I'm just trying to decide whether to buy Tremol-no, or get locking tuning keys. I have an Ibanez RG350DX but broke the locking nut, and rather than pay LOTS to fix it I thought locking tuning keys might be better. Any help or insight on this would be fantastic.
