i love the common theme of the little monsters in all your works. im guesing they are the symbols of corruption, maybe the benitos themsleves? they always seem to come from machines and always lead to chaos and ruin. very beautiful work too
This is a poignant and thoroughly disturbing commentary on how we worship our technology and then discard it for something new and how it will be our downfall... or at least that's what I got out of it. I loved it. 5 Stars!
hmm... I can see your point, leowolfe. The author is trying to lump multiple religious ideologies together. But why? What if we're missing the point entirely? If you notice, there is some entity giving the people these idols. The people are making a mistake. They should be worshiping that entity, not the idols. In the end, the entity crushes the city with an idol. Why? Because that is of what the city became. Idols. That's one of civilization's many, many mistakes. Worshiping in our own eyes.
I think that the author of this short uses "the ten commandment story" as a quasi-case study. The story goes that when moses was talking to God about writing the ten commandments, aaron (moses's comrade, if you will) decided that moses was taking too long. Instead of waiting, aaron told the isrealites to make a golden bull and worship it for the time being. When moses came down, he was so appaled, he dropped the ten commandments, breaking them. Thi point is that civilization tends to worship
this one's about judaism. People used to worship the bull idol before moses. And bringing the tv down was like the ten commandments. I'm not sure whether the computer at the end was supposed to be jesus because it's no better than the tv.
I don't think that's the point. I guess it's about what people make their gods. First there's the bull, then there's something which looks more powerful to them and it goes on. All in all worshipping every one of these idols is stupid, no matter how it looks or what it does.
I would like to add to this, since the "bendito machine" series obviously has multiple layers of human truth. If you notice, the bull resembled a radio, the the second idol resembled a television, the third a computer, and the fourth a satelite. What if the author is not only making the implication vatzec just mentioned? That we as humanity treat technologic inventions AS idols? Also, did anyone else notice the subliminal messinging that the tv idol was using to the people?
Yep, that's what I meant - they're worshipping what they think is the most powerful because they're either amazed or scared of it, they don't think of what really matters.
I don't think so. Except for the bull, which people start worshipping in Old Testament, it's about making stuff gods in general, not about particular religious symbols or religions.

La première vidéo est très originale. La deuxième l'est moins et la troisième est simplement inutile : trop de suites tue l'idée originelle.

Well yeah, that's basically what I meant, but they've definitely used some religious symbolism.
