  • Great singer; great lady

  • My Mother owned recordings of Miss Hammond...So glad to have my Mum as my Mum

  • Thank you very much for posting the video of this lovely song sung by a great artist whose name is not as well known perhaps as the quality of her voice and singing suggest it should be. Her operatic work and in particular her recording of 'O, my beloved Father' ('O, mio babbino caro') were once very familiar to many British listeners. Joan Hammond (later, Dame Joan) was also one of the top golfers of her time in the land where she was raised, Australia. She was New Zealand born.

  • Hi rupe!

She was conceived in London, born in NZ and raised in Oz.. She was trained in Vienna, and in London was taken up by Tauber, who included her in a number of his concerts, both singing duets with her and conducting for her.
