Actually the OP is right, the reason there are not many Mac viruses is because virus writers want to hurt as many people as possible, Macs don't bolster big enough numbers to be worth the writer's time. I started on Macs. I had 2 old Performas, and they didn't performa, because I've never seen machines crash like that. They were slow, barely upgradeable, and locked up for no reason constantly. Put me off of Macs permanently. Perhaps they've improved since I've been away, but from the sound of that famous Mac parody by Hunter Cressall they haven't, because I remember having a lot of the same issues.

It was a steep learning curve when I got a PC because they don't baby you with cutesy names like "finder" and "chooser." I had to get acquianted with the registry and having thousands of files scattered throughout dozens of directories, but I would never go back. I have my PC safegaurded with free antivirus and antispyware like AVG, Ewido, and others that make it a virtual fortress. Haven't met a bug I wasn't able to zap.

One last thing: My opinion. Well, you guessed it, I'm a PC user all the way. If I want gaming, of course I'm going to go with Windows, because devs make more games for PC, just like devs make more viruses for Windows, and you know why? Because they know that Windows has the largest audience of all computer users. Of course, many companies, such as ID Software, still make games OpenGL compatible, so they can run on Linux and Macs, in order to receive the largest audience possible.

The main difference between Macs and PCs? Hardware, different CPU instruction code, etc.  Once again, I find it much easier to modify and change hardware on PCs than it is on Macs, and for a developer/gamer, that is very important. As for crashing, any OS can crash. Take advantage of the vulnerable aspects in code or of the computer itself. Overload the CPU, end vital processes, etc. I've crashed Macs and PCs many times. Well, I shouldn't say that, you'll still probably get a crash somewhere along the road.

Next, viruses are man-made, and are not made by the OS itself. Those who think Macs cannot get viruses are simply retarded, because a 'virus' can be any number of things for fuck sakes! There are 'viruses' that people make for PCs that edit registry key values, while there are perfectly safe applications that do the same thing. The difference is in how they do it, and what the purpose is. Perfectly normal tasks which the OS sees as acceptable, which in the end do harm to your data.

Alright, here it is. First of all, Windows is an OS, not a computer. These Mac computers are extremely uncustomizable, because the hardware used on them is different to that of standard PC parts, particularly speaking about the CPU. Now another point that should be mentioned is that it is much easier to change the hardware on a PC, and to find retail outlets who sell the hardware. As for Macs, well, I don't even know if anyone sells new hardware for them.
