iPhone 4S vs The Deathgrip

I just received my iPhone 4S two days ago. My 3 bars of service go down to No Service is 20 seconds. So my iPhone 4S does have reception problems. I am waiting for my rubber band holder to arrive.

Can anyone record a video comparing iphone 3G, 4 and 4S reception in field test mode, please? (to enter field test mode simply call *3001#12345#*)

I've figured out, that mine old iphone 3G (running 3.1.3 software) has a better reception (-81dBm) than a brand new iphone 4S (iOS 5.0.1, -95dBm) on the same network (vodafone cz). Phones were laying on the desk next each other.

The whole design sucks, Apple knows it. They hid the actual signal through software. If it shows 3 bars, it's most like 0.5 bars. I couldn't replicated the same signal loss on my friend's iphone 4 after the update.

@iAvLam in iOS there is no more iPod.app. Its music and video, just liike the iPad and iTouch have.

All smart phones do that "death grip" thing, including my current iPhone 3GS... Just most people do not bear squeeze their phone like that when they are using it.. If anything I use my thumb and two fingers to hold my phone against my ear... my other two fingers are toward the bottom of the phone.

Death grip is only in the U.S. in every other country this issue never existed and i proved that in my videos on it last year, AT&T is bad, its was 90% AT&T's fault and 10% apples fault.

@Moonface00z if your service is good enough it usually doesn't do it. if you have a case on it, that lowers the effect and it only happens in the lower left corner of the device. i never dropped a single call or lost my entire service because of the deathgrip. i even forgot it existed until now.

Yeah, there was never an issue with the antenna on the iPhone 4, that's why Apple rebuilt the antenna for the CDMA version and the iPhone 4S. Apple really failed with the way they HANDLED the iPhone 4 antenna issue.

The iPhone 4S does have 4G, only on ATT....in a software update, your phone should begin showing 4G. (4G is 3 things, WiMax(Sprint) HSPA+(ATT) and LTE (all carriers) The iPhone 4S supports HSPA+, which is 4G.

I never had the issue before with iPhone 4. Who the hell grips a phone like that anyway? Most people aren't left-handed anyway.

there's nothing new with design. Apple figured everything out when the moved the antenna for the CDMA model
