This is probably how the drums have been mic'ed up,

For example, they cant mic up all the cymbals, so they probably mic the ride up because he uses this a lot, however didn't mic the splash or china up for some reason, and these dont come out as clear because of the other components of the kit and of course the rest of the band. P.S. Joey is beast.

I'm not talking about synching, I'm talking about the fact that he smashes a crash and you can't hear it, etc.

For example at 1:37 he plays on the splash in the video when it clearly sounds like a ride. He also hits a china after that and you can't here it. There are many other examples of this.

@PandaBasher once you have been drumming for a while, 1. you get used to flying around, 2. muscle build, 3. when you hit a cymbol for example, the stick bounces back in your hand, so you use the bounce to your advantage, thats how he does that blast beat in the beginning
