  • Had to comment, this issue is common to speedos that are cable driven (Most are)

The reason is; in very cold weather the lubricant is thick and the inner cable tends to bind as it rotates, especially on a radius . This binding, or sticking creates a resonance in the cable and "buzzes" the speedo head. there is actually a lube made just for this, either that or get a new cable. This was very common on the air cooled VW. Back to GEET, Cheers

  • My VW pick-up does some similar thing, though i've always believed it was the cable or the wormwheel, and it doesn't go as far as yours....though it did come on around the time i put an installation..... the system is placed all the way at the back left, even behind the rear wheel, and the cable comes from the left front whheel, i will be checking something these days and i'llcome back on it

    thanks

  • that would be a nightmare here in the uk if i travel five miles i go through about 15-20 speed cameras. wonder if my merc sprinter van will do this.nice post. cheers.
