Lego Star Wars 9493 X-Wing Fighter Review

I was surprised with the problems you are having with the wing mechanism as mine works really well (the double rubber band keeps the wings firmly closed so they don't flap a out - perhaps a rebuild is needed?) Also I wanted to comment that I think this set is the most accurate X-Wing that Lego has released (UCS excluded) and is a much better proportioned and detailed than the earlier versions so if you want something that looks most like what you see in the film this set is the best choice.

WHAT? 2004 better? can you pleease say or if it's the right scale... the 2004/the older ones are definitely too small, but i don't know about the 2012 set... and look at the cannons... thats a BIG improvement... thx in advance

Seems you can convert the 06 version into this new one. I might smooth off mine with the white slopes and flat bits.

Dude, the wings on your x-wing do not work because you build them rong, check swcc toyreviewtelevision's review and you will see the proper form build of the wings, also you will see they do not clos that easily because he left the x-wing with the wings open on the landing mode and they didn't close, so check that out, and guys, whoever wants to buy this set, don't worry, it won't happen anything wrong with the wings as shown on this vid, in this case it happen because Loxitane build

I have the 2006 version. There's pretty much no difference on the 2003/2004 x-wing with the 2006 x-wing, except how the tip of the x-wing was changed from grey to white, and they also added an extra grey 2 x 2 tile at the tip of the 2006 x-wing. I agree with you, the 2003 and 2006 versions were much better then the 2012 x-wing

bullshit!!!! i have got the set and the wings work very good they stay secure and stiff,now your false comment can make potential customers not buy the set.your a good reviewer one of best but you have to check the set out learn all the features and THEM make a review. p.s sorry for the bad word at the front.

I just received and built my X-Wing today (I'm in the UK), and I have to say that it walks all over the 2004 version! It looks far closer to the on-screen ship than the older one, and you it doesn't take you 10 minutes of wheel turning to deploy the wings. The wing mechanism DOES WORK, and very well, mine snaps open and stays that way. Also, the wings are far stronger in this version and the blasters look excellent.

Ordinarily I think your reviews are good, but I have to give this one a C+...

I really love this X-Wing. Especially the slight slope towards the nose - very nice design! & I have no problems with the wings on mine... I even tried to open it up again to see if I could reproduce your problems, but no luck. Strange...

But I'm no fan of the new TIE-Fighter. It looks good, yes, but it's quite flimsy. Especially the hinges on the cockpit open too easily which makes it less "swooshable." Oh well.

Man, that '99 X-Wing brings back memories. I think that was my first LEGO Star Wars set. I remember my parents wouldn't let me open it until the next day, so I got up at five to build it.
