  • Thanks for doing this vid! And thanks for keeping this on vocs. Good general explanation! Thanks again

  • how do u know u have enough compressing on ya vocals ?

  • @FlashyYChoppa When they are high enuff in the mix and they aren't clipping, don't over compress though. Your ears should tell you my fren.

  • thank u for explaining that abt compresion :)

  • How much do you charge for mixin and masterin tracks?

  • @CDreamZ123 For mixing anywhere from 50-75$ ,mastering 30-60$ it depends on the track, peace!

  • good one

  • Im actually into mixing a lot but I wanted to ask engineer to engineer, I have a focusrite trakmaster pro compressor, very great compressor, and having that would you still add a compressor onto your vocals right? cause I do, and is the compressor the first plugin you add to your mix correct?

  • @IzoEasyGang Depends on if the vocals need more compression, and it depends if you want the compressor to be the first plug in your effects chain, if its later in the chain it will compress whatever else you have for effects before it.

    Peace

  • hey...what is the diffrence between this compressor and an external compressor such as the avalon...

  • @elmillon18 Hmmm, i have used both, the Avalon is def wayyy higher quality than the one i use in the video, The sound you get from an Avalon will be a lot more clean, Also an Avalon will be a LOT more expensive :)

  • awesome vid mang

  • Quick Question, im working off of a pc, do u know what are the best effects to use for vocals on a pc,...i work with waves effects and sony effects

  • HEY MAN I LOVE YOUR TUTORIALS, PLEASE MAKE MORE THEY ARE REALLY HELP FULL

  • do i lose any of the compressed sound when i export the somng to a final .WAV? an engineer told me that it can happen that i lose some of it. was that true? cause i didnt understand why that would be the case.

  • Yes i know, he has great videos!

  • haha, that metaphors from "SFLogicNinja" its a great one though!

  • @djflipflop Yes i give him props for this metaphor :) very easy to understand :)

  • thanx man.....cuz when i record ma vocals r super low and i dont no why and when i record i hear myself but its a delay and it always mess me up when im recordin can u tell me what 2 do?.....

  • one of the best compression tips on the web, you did a good job describing it, thank you!

  • Thank you

  • how bout more then one compression setup on mixer for drum, vocals i need to know the best way to setup

    Thank you

  • Yo Pojo, you should bus your vocals to aux tracks to reduce the amount of plugin instances you have. That session looks small, but on a bigger session, I bet your mix screen is covered with plugins. You should bus all the verses to one aux, adlibs to a second aux, hooks to a third and maybe fourth aux, then put your eq and compression and stuff on the aux's. It'll save you lots of CPU!

  • This video is dope!! I learned alot

  • Good video bro. Nice metaphor lol. Quick question...

So compressors basically take the louder noises, and make them softer. You set the threshold at a certain level so it'll effect THOSE sounds that are louder than it,, but what about the soundz that are too soft? The soundz that are under the threshold. Example - Like say if one word you say in ur vocals is way too quiet, much lower than the threshold is set to. would it be effected & made louder??

  • @detroitMC313 no the softer sound will remain natural... use a compressor like salt never put to much. you will have to learn to use a little bit of everything to make the vocals sound clean and natural. start out by learning about your mic, is it a bright mic or a warm mic. what type of interface are you using, m box or something a little better. do you have a mic pre amp like an avalon pre amp? Also learn what order to put your EQ, Compressor in..

  • how bout compression of tha whole track ??

  • do we have to pay if we want to collab wiith u?

  • i have a question, when recording, what should i have the mbox mic monitor set to

  • @JohnyRichTV just turn the beat down and the mic to a good volume so that you can hear yourself while recording each track. Never LOUd

  • @JohnyRichTV I have it all the way to the right...

  • i need 2 find where 2 download a vocal compression for fl studio 8 cause i have tracks recorded but the sound is crazpy

  • you can buy some compression at teh guitar center, I got 4lbs of it for 5 bucks!!!!

  • @WeThePeopleNY what type of compressor do you have now

  • preciate the advice cuz, i been wonderin

  • Tight thanks for posting, i had one question though my bad dont mean to be a bother...But how do you know what to set your threshold at? and the gain? because im worried about cliping...is there a meter that i look at or do i just listen to see whats going on?
