It's heartbreaking to see anybody would intentionally demolish great works of art, a great part of human history, for fascist agenda. Korean war didn't affect the palace much. It was only the 35 years of occupation that affected the palaces. Read up history, dumbass.

Retard, Yeah Japs damaged the palaces fucking bad, But during the Korean war, The Main Gate of GyeongBuk Palace, Gwanghwae Gate was burned to ash, and N.Korean soldiers tried to loot the Chang-duk Palace, But the Last Empress Yoon prevented it.

I said, Korean war didn't harm much of the palace, you shithead. Japanese destroyed most of it because of construction renovations.

@3476hg You should listen to your own words. Yes, a lot was destroyed during the Korean war, but the truth of the matter is, Japan destroyed most of the palaces before hand, leaving almost nothing left to destroy.

Actually Japan destroyed 80~90% of the palaces because of construction of buildings for their own good. Many rare Korean artifacts can be shown in Japanese museum and private collectors.

I feel bad for Korea. I don't know for sure, but is it really true that 'Korea stole Japan's culture?' I dont know.. but I've heard alot from others that Korea's culture was given to them. Now their mad at them? i dont know haha.

@KAKAtwo1 Had Japan been left as it was, it would be a much more barbaric race. It's culture was given to by the Koreans and a little directly from China. Also, then the Japanese pirates used to raid Korean villages and take potters, poets, and scholars.

Korea never took culture from Japan, I mean, why take culture from a country that has little of its own? Check out the history of Japan and tell me if they ever had much to offer other than their samurai (which came much later).

It's so sad see how Kyongbok palace was before japanese's occupation. I'm italian and i'm studying korean history, not a lot of people knows about this cruelty to art of a nation, i'm happy that there are teacher like you who wants to explain this. Sorry for my english and good luck!
