i never had the iphone but my cousin has the samsung galaxy s 3g and its a nice phone but one of the things that bug me about it, is youtube playback on it, even when you have the video set to HQ playback, the video never fills the screen as a matter a fact its like a small square, i mean am i missing something, do you have to tweak the settings or something to fix this? anyways the iphone video is more crisp but the vibrant wins for overall picture quality as far as color & viewing angles

If you want a player for home converted movies then get something else. Movies that play great in itunes, WILL NOT play in iphone without problems unless maybe if you buy them from itunes. It is just a fantastic phone, just not a good video player. If Sony packaged the PSP in a muti-media system with better resolution then they will knock the socks off the iphone. PSP is the easiest player to please, plays all converted movies without a hitch and not as priority inhibited as iphone.

@gk3og The only thing your phone has is a better screen, that's it. I have a better camera, a front facing camera, a kickstand, a better and cheaper network, 4G, and a bigger screen. The Evo 4G been voted the best Android phone of 2010, time and time again. Oh, and I have Android 2.2.

I personally have a Samsung Vibrant for my phone and an iPod touch (4th gen) for my apps and music! It's like the best of both worlds! You get the app store, the great ipod, the great retina display, 2 cameras and you don't have to be stuck on a stupid data plan!

I love my Samsung Vibrant, but the one thing I absolutely hate about it is it's lack of weight. It feels like a toy in my hands. Samsung should have added some kind of weight into the body to make it heavier. ;D

It feels very solid and sturdy in the hand...when I picked up my vibrant for the first time, I was shocked how light it was....some people may like that but I personally want a sturdy feeling phone. I'm not asking for a brick, just a little weight that's all!

Are you kidding us? They ingeniously put glass on both sides to double the chance of cracked glass, and they ingeniously made the glass plates on both sides extend to the corners which are most likely to be the points of impact.

The momentum with which they will hit the ground varies based on their weight. The difference in weight is minimal. They will be impacting at relatively equal magnitudes. Hardness equals no relevancy. Unless you have proof.

Also most people who have an iPhone 4 have it because they want to use their apps. Why pay for hundreds of dollars worth of apps then move to a new platform? Sure, AMOLED is superior to IPS in this comparison, but in the long run the AMOLED screen is going to end up losing color detail. But I guess that doesn't matter since most people will have probably replaced their phone with a newer one at that point.

Anyway both the AMOLED and RETINA displays are amazing, and you cant loose with either one, but it comes down to wether or not your an Apple man or an Android man...me I like both!
@snakedoc1306 I can't speak for him but older OLED displays had terrible shelf life because of the poor materials used in the organic layer in early prototype generations.
Newer gen AMOLED displays are a different beast though.

How many of you own a mac and still getting Samsung? Debated over quite a bit but I'm leaning to Iphone since I own a Mac. If I had owned PC, I'd not have hesitated in getting Samsung I guess. Quality is incredible.
@Xentradi97 I love Apple and Samsung. Im making a video of my latest ROM on my Sammy S. People are going to be mind blown w/ what I have done to this. This phone is so hackable. I'd sware Samsung knew this. They made it so easy. I have the vibrant with now a FFC over clocked at 1.2ghz and Froyo. @eseskay99 xda-devolopers.cm will help you with that. Idk about the captivate. But the Vibrant has got updates for the gps fix. I fixed it myself. It was pretty easy. and I'm no genius. At that site look up galaxy S gps fix. Hope this helps. I use my GPS all the time with no problems. I like iPhone4. I will never hate on Apple. They make user friendly products. But I love This Phone. Galaxy S is a beast.

@themadghandi69 it is an amaxing phone. But at first there is a lag problem. If you'd want i can help you fix it, it's called lag fix. It's out because samsung has made an inefficient way of loading data between the sd and the phone itself. It uses an EXT2, but the lag fix creates a EXT 3, and EXT 4 that makes data transport 3x faster. This means that in a benchmark normal samsung out of the box only gets 800 points, but after lag fix it gets 2300 points

Ok take a look at the video at first, the samsung starts off off just abit before but the iphone but then the samsung lags a bit because the iphone catches up in the end.

Just bought the galaxy s yesterday and ended up going back to the iPhone 4. I'm not so sure by I can actually tell a huge difference in sharpness. The iPhone 4 display has still been the most impressive for reading text and IMO videos. The thing about my galaxy s is that when it comes to lighting it is too bright as if samsung tried a bit too hard in giving a bloom effect.

I have been looking over all this between Iphone and Galaxy S with all their differences but what it boils down is this:
- ease of use
- ease of support
- network reliability
- feature-enriched for app integration
- os flexibility and lastly,
FLASH support.
So how about it Apple fans.. What all the glamour of the device, it simply falls short of "The Ultimate Experience"
Android wins hands-down. Sorry Jobs, looks like you have to back to the drawing board ;)

@nsulademon Which brings us back to my original comment which stated that I loved my Vibrant and was pleased with it, however, personally, it felt to light for me. I then said that if it had the weight of an iPhone 4 it would be perfect. Yes, the Vibrant wins hands down.

Also most people who have an iPhone 4 have it because they want to use their apps. Why pay for hundreds of dollars worth of apps then move to a new platform? Sure, AMOLED is superior to IPS in this comparison, but in the long run the AMOLED screen is going to end up losing color detail. But I guess that doesn't matter since most people will have probably replaced their phone with a newer one at that point.

@plasticksrt Just curious how you know the AMOLED screen will loose color over time? I thought they were the newest of technology? Anyway both the AMOLED and RETINA displays are amazing, and you cant loose with either one, but it comes down to wether or not your an Apple man or an Android man...me I like both!

@snakedoc1306 I can't speak for him but older OLED displays had terrible shelf life because of the poor materials used in the organic layer in early prototype generations.
Newer gen AMOLED displays are a different beast though.

i have the vibrant and it has an amazing display and is very responsive. I like both phones, vibrant for amazing quality youtube and other videos and movies, and iphone 4 for game/apps and music.

@DGKBrooks uhm no... dual core does not mean 2ghz..you are mistaken. the SGS2 comes with a dual core 1.2ghz processor..sure its 2 1.2ghz processors but it doesnt double the speed

They look similar, but considering that the Vibrant is bigger and still the video looks the same, if not better, obviously I'll have to give it the edge. Odd, since Apple is the one with higher resolution and a smaller screen in which those pixels do their work. And when tilted the Apple looks horrible whereas the Sammy still looks awesome. Weird. I think I just made up my mind, Galaxy S!

How many of you own a mac and still getting Samsung? Debated over quite a bit but I'm leaning to Iphone since I own a Mac. If I had owned PC, I'd not have hesitated in getting Samsung I guess. Quality is incredible.

@Xentradi97 I love Apple and Samsung. Im making a video of my latest ROM on my Sammy S. People are going to be mind blown w/ what I have done to this. This phone is so hackable. I'd sware Samsung knew this. They made it so easy. I have the vibrant with now a FFC over clocked at 1.2ghz and Froyo. And we even hacked the stock Task manager that comes with Froyo to work just as good as the ones on the market if not better. check out akaskriller here on utube. or site at akaskrillerdotcom.

@eseskay99 xda-devolopers.cm will help you with that. Idk about the captivate. But the Vibrant has got updates for the gps fix. I fixed it myself. It was pretty easy. and I'm no genius. At that site look up galaxy S gps fix. Hope this helps. I use my GPS all the time with no problems. I like iPhone4. I will never hate on Apple. They make user friendly products. But I love This Phone. Galaxy S is a beast.

@themadghandi69 it is an amaxing phone. But at first there is a lag problem. If you'd want i can help you fix it, it's called lag fix. It's out because samsung has made an inefficient way of loading data between the sd and the phone itself. It uses an EXT2, but the lag fix creates a EXT 3, and EXT 4 that makes data transport 3x faster. This means that in a benchmark normal samsung out of the box only gets 800 points, but after lag fix it gets 2300 points

The iphone 4 screen with 2.2 Froyo and hdmi, 32gig sd card, 3 mics, and call quality of the droid x, with the Nokia N8 carl ziess 12mp cameria and HD video with the Xenon flash built in to the back side and another carl ziess lens on the front side for shooting myself and the background behind me or video calls, all housed in stainless like the moto V9, with the dust, shock and water resistance of the moto defy military spec phone.

Ok take a look at the video at first, the samsung starts off off just abit before but the iphone but then the samsung lags a bit because the iphone catches up in the end.
I just think instead of testing the phones head to head you just brag about the screen size bigger screen means more battery drain.

Just bought the galaxy s yesterday and ended up going back to the iPhone 4. I'm not so sure by I can actually tell a huge difference in sharpness. The iPhone 4 display has still been the most impressive for reading text and IMO videos. The thing about my galaxy s is that when it comes to lighting it is too bright as if samsung tried a bit too hard in giving a bloom effect.
