  • I agree, this is a good job. I would like to know what you use to lock the turret. Is it a brake? What is the lead on the screw?

  • Brilliant job. It'd be safer to have a door on the machine though.

  • thats a real achievement 10 out of 10 ! cant knock anyone who has the will to make any machine its a lot of work.

  • What a great engineered design, Wow it's awsome. Are you planning to add chip wipers to protect the linear bearing slides? Also love your tool changer. A total great job you have done and thank you for sharing .

  • "Scratch built" make it sound like it was just thrown together! Awesome work. I'm amazed!

  • Checkout the scratch built cnc mill the UMC 10. very cool

  • How much did everything cost ? Damn nice machine, would like to see some stainless or aluminum at that being turned ...

  • What software are you running?

  • I have been looking for a small lathe for some time. This one is awesome for turning delrin or UHMW. Will you be selling them?

  • If that isn't the coolest thing I've seen... Well done, dude!

  • omg super :D felicitaciones

  • WOW this is one of the coolest lathes ive seen, you did an AWSOME job!!!

  • GAWD!!! I really appreciate the precision and hard work it took to make this. Very nice!! I love your tool changing rig!

  • EXCELENTE CONSTRUCCION... QUE MOTORES LE PUSISTE unipolar o bipolar.. SALUDOS DES LA CD DE MEXICO

  • So how does the control panel work?

  • I'm impressed. Getting ready to scratch build a cnc router. Thanks for the inspiration.

  • Nice build, but you need some protection for the screws.

    A skirt, or bellow.

  • Man all you need is a tailbody/subspindle and a tool eye and milling in the toolposts :)... Look alot like a mini Mazak or something :)

  • No live center? Looks like you could cut some pretty long parts if it had one.

  • NICE

  • Nice job!!!

  • Do you work for a college?and is that a job for home?

  • Do you have any sort of spindle feedback loop as to cut threads and other features of that nature?

  • AWESOME work !!! Really nice !

    I want one :o)

  • good job man I just finished building my own 3 axis cnc router

  • Hey, here's something to consider. You should probably try putting something over the X and Z guides. Those rubber folding guards would be good enough. Just a thought.

  • i want one

    sweet

  • Very nice. Well done.

  • do you have plans that could be down loaded?for a price

  • Extremely impressive. Have you documented the build on a website? I'd love to see some more videos or read about the build & design.

    You are very talented.

  • I have a real shop with several real CNC machines, so I am not a machine shop -hobbiest-. And I want to say

that this is a super accomplishment and it looks absolutely professional. Fantastic job!

  • very nice machine! what was total cost to date?

  • OMG ! that is the awesomest DIY project I've ever seen

  • applause!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nothing short of amazing. How well does it work turning steel?

  • It cuts steel fine with light passes of .010-.020 per side, I haven't pushed it more than that. I cut about 95% Delrin anyway.

  • @dumpstercnc Like it, how long did that take to make, are you going to impliment the computer part into the actual machine?

  • I don't know how that would be possible without hydraulics and tools on collets.

  • Really nice!

Does it have to go all the way out to change tools?

  • No, it'll change tools anywhere you tell it to. It's a good habit to let it move back to home for safety.
