  • Just give Tommy Emmanuel the 250 grand. He's already done this and more...

  • Tommy Emmanuel - Classical Gas

  • fucking great !!!!

  • This guy would surely becomes.....The Next Australian Angus Young!!!!

  • if this guy doesent make it big in the world , then the world should fuckin end aldready

  • dang he won $250,000

  • the new eric johnson!

  • This is Australia's Got Talent, not Australia's Got Originality.

  • good

  • going a bit to fast :D

  • I dont think the judges no what type of talent this is

  • He is good, but he is way too fast too.

  • Lenny Leonard APPROVED!

  • he just stole the smokin' from joe frazier. fucking ass hole

  • @hallokity123 @hallokity123 - I'll tell you what, if you started playing guitar at age 10 and then got to tour with Tommy Emmanuel at age 11 I'll give a listen to your opinon, until then STFU. Anyone that Tommy claims was far better than Tommy was at that age can call himself anything he wants and should deserve our respect for his talent. What a boxer has anything to do with a guitarist I can only imagine.

  • @brianmi40 the smokin' he stole from joe frazier, I don't care about guitars

  • This would be a lot better if the video would quit switching to the judges.

  • Just saw him in concert at Minnesota State Fair last night, and he was phenomenal.

  • 23 people are either retarded blind, or deaf.

  • @VoodooChildJohn7 hell yes

  • Great technique, but he's gonna need some originality.

  • @ravenrose89 If you are going to be in a contest for 250 fucking thousand dollars then you would never risk loosing by playing an original song. You need to play something that you know will be liked. If you want originality then listen his original music...

  • @sanman312 Well, Jack Vidgen decided to sing an original composition by himself for his final performance, and won it. I agree that its not entirely appropriate to compare these two young talented people, but watching a close copy (granted that some improvisations were made) of T.E's classical gas for a final performance seemed rather mediocre to me. Im not hating nor do I doubt his potential, but im just voicing my humble opinion.

  • @ravenrose89 Truthfully, I wish he'd made like It's Not Easy or Bergeson Fries before this. I firmly believe that a last performance should be created by that musician.

  • Comment removed

  • @ravenrose89 check out his songs bro! they are awesome haha

  • @ravenrose89 are you serious?

  • @ravenrose89 he has now !!

  • Its all fun and games until someone says "TOUCHDOWN!"

  • going to see him live tonight, in a few minutes actually, very excited!! :D

  • Superb!!!

  • TRULY A GREAT TALENT AT 16...SMOKIN' JOE CAN PLAY THE SHIT OUT OF A

    GUITAR........OH YEH!!!

  • holy crap holy crap...so this is the one tommy emmanuel has been teaching huh?

  • He is a good player, but he needs to advance out of Tommy Emanuals playing, he needs to develop his own style...

  • @CoolKateBass Haha, you don't play any instrument, do you? He is 16 - you have to start somewhere and Tommy Emmanuel's tunes are great to both learn and showcase your skills with. If you would have cared about his playing at all you would instantly have noticed that he have great own original music circling around here on youtube. And if you mean fingerstyle overall: It's as if you would have told John Petrucci to advande from distorted playing since Hendrix already had played it...

  • Comment removed

  • @salomon9595 Why would you make that accusation that i don't play an instrument? I'm actually bass guitar player studying performance at the Queensland Conservatorium, so don't you dare say i don't play an instrument. i wasn't saying he was bad, it's just all the most famous musos in the world are well known because they attempted something different...

  • @CoolKateBass Read what you wrote and what I replied one more time. If you not understand how I assumed that it's not worth talking to you at all.

  • @salomon9595 Dude i never wanted to talk to you in the first place! You started the freaking conversation! Maybe you should to except others opinions before stating you own. Btw i did check his "circlings" on youtube, and he has to EXACT same loud as tommy Emanual, musicians need to find there own style sound. i repeat he is a good player, but he could be even better if he maybe didn't play the exact same classical gas version.

  • @CoolKateBass I'd suggest you to listen to the interview on iconfetch[dot]com that's called like April 6th, 2011 - Joe Robinson. Sorry if I like made you mad or something, but you should expect some response if you comment on youtube :)

  • @salomon9595 It's fine. I think you misread my statement at the beginning. But i think you went a bit to far saying i don't play an instrument

  • @CoolKateBass He's doing a fairly good job of finding his own sound actually. He's still growing up remember and everyone needs to start somewhere; he was 16 then, he's 20 now. Go to my channel and under my favorites I have a video favorited of him playing and singing from last month in New York. He's definitely branching off and starting to play his own thing.

  • what's up with the drummer half-timing the bridge?

  • Lars de Rijck is better

  • @darrian80 but the Mason's touch to the Tommy cover just worked out great

  • see you wouldnt get this on britains got talent he's not singing a shit pop song with autotune and he's not dancing, thank god for this version of the show this is serious talent

  • Donde puedo comprar tu CD por que en Puerto Rico no existe tu musica

  • what the... are you? defenately not human! where are you from? guitar hero planet?

  • marry me...

  • ESTE FLACO EN UN GENIO

  • hahah the way he dresses and plays.. TE's apprentice hehe

  • can someone say COPYCAT?!?!? Tommy Emmanuel is like' where is this kid?"

  • @woody1182 Tommy and him are friends and they have even toured together. It's a great cover and he should certainly be allowed to play it to show his ability.

  • @woody1182 copycat for sure, ever heard of smokin' joe frazier? he just stole is name.. faggit

  • ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRghhgh

  • It's all fun and games until someone says "TOUCHDOWN!"

  • Haha, 2:08 :P

  • 2:27 _2:30 amazing

  • this guy is awesome!!!! I saw him last night live at the basement sydney and he is fantastic!!!!

  • we already have Tommy Emmanuel man!...get a new style if ya wanna perform :)

  • This wasn't a performance to know if he deserved to go to the Grand Final. This was a show, a gig like he says.

At that time in the AGT he played like a professional, he acted like a professional, and in that performance he even was dressed as a professional. haha, this guy is awesome.

16 years old was already way ahead than most 25 years old people i know.

    Respect, Joe

  • i saw better...including me

  • @roydlnowdays a lot of ppl know his name, he is performing worldwide, composing, he lives in fckn nashville...

    and ....you are?

  • whats so amazing about it loads of ppl can play a guitar

  • @leeandoly Normally when you play guitar you either only play the melody/solo part or you only play the rythm part. The guy in the video, Joe, plays fingerstyle guitar. He plays both the melody and rythm part at the same time. Plus a little percussion at some moments ^^

  • @salomon9595 Plus, classical gas isn't an easy piece to play even normally.

  • I didn't know they had talented people on Australia's Got Talent until this haha

  • They should disable the "Dislike" button of Joe Robinson

  • Youtube levels should be.

    Bad

    Average

    Good

    Very Good

    Amazing

    Smoking Joe

    Tommy Emmanuel

    Guitar God.

Soon Smoking and Tommy will 'level up', haha.

  • I think Tommy Emmanuel would've be proud of you!

  • @malabaresCR And he is :) Tommy is Joes teacher and mentor, and Joe had already been touring with his brother before he got on this show.

  • A new Tommy Emanuel is born ^^

  • I WANT THE "FUCKING AWESOME" BUTTON HERE !!!!!

    0:52 - 2:41

    wowz

  • He even wears the same shirt as TE

  • I'd "TOUCHDOWN" those two girls @ 3:23.

  • My teacher thinks he can do this N00B

  • he is probably one of the finest young guitarists in the world and he has been invited to record with Lee Ritenour on his new album along with the likes of , Steve Lukather , Andu Mckee, and Guthrie Govan. He is a worthy comparison to the acoustic god that is Tommy Emmanuelle

  • @Carphunter1970 sungha jung

  • @orgminyak fuck off

  • that is so tommy emmanuel

  • The new August Rush, but in a improvement

  • ... and not a single acknowledgment of the amazing Mr Tommy Emmanuel, from whom he has stolen every move! Shameless.

  • @hglynrogers If you ever see him live he does acknowledge him, it may have just been cut out from the video.

  • @hglynrogers he knows tommy emmanuel you dickhead

  • @hglynrogers He performed with Tommy when he was 14...

  • @TheMartini1234 - close - actually at age 11, and, after only studying guitar for 1 year having switched from piano studies at age 10.

  • @brianmi40 ...Well that's just scary!

  • ... and not a single acknowledgment of the amazing Mr Tommy Emmanuel, from whom he has stolen every move! Shameless.

  • ... and not a single acknowledgment of the amazing Mr Tommy Emmanuel, from whom he has stolen every move! Shameless.

  • he didn't mention that it was Tommy's cover. thats my only problem with this.

  • the next tommy emunell !

  • This is REAL TALENT!!!!

  • This iS REAL TALENT!!!!

  • i think he is great

  • bit sloppy..

  • never seen young kids doing fingerstyle until this kid. god bless you.

  • Justin Bieber is 16, this guy is 16. I don't get it why is the real talent not getting big?

  • @tjthegreat7 Real talent doesn´t need to get big in the music business, because music comes from heart and isn´t made to earn money.

  • well 16 people were smokin somethin bad and missed the like button

  • i would give my leg to have his talent :O

  • Better than mason williams version.

  • @ThomasNoeZ - It's acctually Tommy Emmanuels version he is playing, slightly modified though

  • Well,

    he copied tommy emmanuel's version

I was hoping for his own interpretation to win the competition

    but nice anyway

  • Turn the english subtitles on and watch at 3min15, it's really funny ^^

  • @supozitwar yeah lmao @ yugo

  • Lmao buy my mum a new vacuum cleaner

  • @MrXorHomer

yeah i loled at that too

  • Man! How much do you want to reckon that Dannii Minogue sucked his cock? Lucky guy.

  • Australian version of Sung Ha Jung..

  • LOL i love how the chick at the beginning of the video says he "still has some developing to do." WTF do you know?? Moron.....

  • lol that totally wasnt stolen from tommy emmanuel. next time remind ever one your stealing his performance

  • @HugeMonkeyNipples He didn´t steal it. He got the right from Tommy to play this song. He´s performed countless times with Tommy and they´re friends.

  • He is very good but he is copying tommy emmanuel....JP ONE MAN BAND on the other hand was original....wich means better

  • he didnt say it was tommys cover...........

  • in the Hollands got talent there also was a guy who did some tommy emmanuel stuff, he is a great fan of Tommy Emmanuel. Unfortunately, that guy did not win Hollands got talent, he became 2nd.

I´m glad that this kind of music does come in the 1st place somewhere in else in the world:P:)

  • @Lizard440 The guy does play together with tommy so he did make it in the end!

  • he plays and has the enthusiasm of tommy emmanuel, awesome!

  • awesome. why the hell is justin bieber famous and this kid isnt?

  • @yougumbo9 because society is a bunch of dumbfucks.

  • get it kid, its so wonderful to see someone who loves what they are doing and all that practice pay off! get it get it get it!!!!

  • He is so damn blessed with talent ... Awesome

  • @Mirco1121 i have read he practised four hours before and after school...don't get me wrong he has the talent and is probably the best in his age, but getting to this point where he stands needs a lot of work :)

  • i'd probably by my mum a new vaccume cleaner..lol

  • holy crap he is amazing!

  • Touchdown! HAHA!

  • Australia's best guitarist if not soon to be the world's! He can play anything, believe me!

  • thats tommy version....but to be able to do it like tommyyou have to have mad skillsss so mad props yo

  • A pleasure to watch and listen to,I knew he would win, simply brilliant.

  • i wanna know what hes smokin' and where i can get it

  • I gotta admit I cringed a bit when I heard the blatent Tommy E. rip but I figured in these competitions who the heck are doing originals anyway? Nice transition into the classic Mason W. version at the end. This tune is a hit with me and I think he played the hell ou of it.

  • Maton represent! You are my new idol.

  • 2 yes 1 Touchdown PERFECT SCORE

  • This guy masturbates a lot i guess

  • its not as good as tommy emmanuel's version, but hes still fuckin good :)

  • @cawaka Tommy Emmanuel never recorded this song... It was Mason Williams

  • @clay2606 yeah i know, tommy plays it live.

  • @clay2606 Oh, Tommy did in 1995 with Columbian records (part of Sony recordings) and Australian philharmonic orchestra. The CD had 12 tracks and was named "Classical Gas". This particular track was the only cover track, all others were written by Tommy.

  • To be honest -- and I am from Europe-- Australia should be proud to have produced a brilliant self-taught guitarist with exceptional skills and terrific musicality. Bloody brilliant. A real talent. Well done Australia and to him.

  • It's all fun and games until someone says "TOUCHDOWN!"

  • He is really amazing guitarist. I love his style.

  • I did this guy's sound recently. I think all the fame has gone to his head. Friggin talented kid though, I think he's improved substantially since this too.

  • lol i've seen Tommy Emmanuel wear the exact same shirt before. Joe was great when he won this but is even better now

  • a younger version of tommy emmanuel........totally!!

  • Im from the US but ill say this in Austrailian Bloody brilliant mate

  • haha probly buy my mum a new vaccume cleaner

  • my mum taught him in primary school :)

  • @EpiphoneArchtopLover:

i absolutely believe you can play it the same then Joe robinson - i guess everone here does - but could you please upload a video of yourself playing it? I would love to see another guy.

And btw: nice combination of comments: "i can play it the same" plus "this equates to ZERO personal talent and input"...

  • rofl tom at 2:37

  • The added bridge part is from CGT's cover, the orchestral backing is from Mason William's verson, and the other 90 percent is directly ripped from Tommy. All this equates to absolutely ZERO personal tallent and input.

  • This kid give me hope for future generations.

It would be cool to see Smokin' Joe cuttin' heads with Anton Dufour in a friendly competition.

(Cuttin' heads = blues-oriented jargon for soloing "battle" between guitarists.

  • Gratz on the ripoff *tommi emmanuel cough*.

  • Comment removed

  • @sianghan Gratz on the FAIL spelling of Tommy Emmanuel

  • I love the Tommy Emmanuel to Mason Williams transition.

  • Tommy = original

  • harmonics are amazing in this he pulls them off effortlessly

  • Not only is he good....He looks alot like young Jimmy Page!

  • he's good but tomy is God :D

  • everything is passion

  • I'm pretty ignorant as to this guy's origins, but has he ever acknowledged Tommy or given him credit or anything?

  • toooo muuuuccchhh

  • Kinda cool to see the influence Tommy Emmanuel has had over Australian guitarists (which is understandable; when the best guitarist on earth comes from your country, he's going to have a pretty big influence there)

Worth noting to everyone here who's learning a bout this kid from TV; basically everything Joe Robinson plays was originally arranged/written/conceived by a fellow Aussie nammed Tommy Emmanuel. If you like great and hyper-tempo acoustic fingerstyle guitar, check him out.

  • Absolutely right RoofFiddler!... and watching both Joe and Tommy play together is great... it is wonderful to see two such great guitarists enjoying themselves...

  • you won't be a reconized guitar player if you just slack on other people's songs, you should make songs also to be a good guitartist.

  • true but he's still young.

  • To be fair, he was only 16 at the time of this competition. You're right in what you're saying but he has PLENTY of time to start writing his own arrangements.

  • Its funny how when peolple try to impress others they whip out the Tommy Emmanuel. That song isn't all that hard.

  • Brilliantly original! Never heard anything like it.

    (Except I have)

  • saw him performing this life yesterday, he's fantastic...

  • this guy really got talent!!!

  • but i will think the pressure will kill me, got stage fright, like one time i was performing in school, blackbird and mariachi, everything was alright, people were cheering but then i cracked under pressure, had to be excused. it sucks when you have low self esteem.

  • he had lessons for 1 year with a teacher, that say much, i have seen better guitarist at my school, i'm an alright player, can play jose feliciano malaguena, and farruca punta y tacon. i can also play other songs too, i was thinking of trying out for australia got talent, hmmm perhaps.

  • @krumplatino the guitar teacher he had for one year is geoff wallage whom i study with at the moment but thats not all joe had he also did lessons with the emmenual brothers.

  • holy shit that's amazing

  • this is good but i dnt think he is self taught

  • Things are different these days. He can listen to any song he wants online. Find and order books online. Have lessons and video lessons online.

  • @salvialuke What difference does that make?

  • joe at 16 to play that song and many have tryed. you owned it dude. you rocked that tune. keep the faith and rock on

  • amazing
