I don't get this one... I mean, I've gotten to the ghost ship, and there doesn't seem to be a major conflict. It seems like there are just a series of unrelated small bad things, and someone wants Estelle dead or something, but the game hasn't really picked up at all.

@Izak80 If you Never played a rpg then it would be more on what type you would like we got turn base that's like the play style of Pokemon and you got time base(i don't know if it is realy the name of it): they are like the Tales of games. There are even more so i'd say chose what rpg style of fighting you like the most. If you for example like time base then you could start of with any of the tales pf game, cause all the games have a new story to it

@GuitarsRgood Well, so far there is no conflict. None of the characters are annoyed with any of the others, and character development is next to none. That being said, I do have a favorite character (Rita). Yuri does not seem like he's up to the task of main character. I like some conflict between the characters, I guess that's why I liked Abyss, and Destiny so much, but everyone seems way to happy to have everyone along in this one. It's not bad per se, it's just slow..

I don't play many Japanese games let alone JRPG's but im enjoying TOV, the art style is vibrant and although I don't get the whole androgynous thing I'll let it slide, what I can't let slide however is the awful dialogue (I felt the same way about FF13's dialogue) it is written and delivered in such a cheesy manner, I've had to mute the voice's which eases the pain. Having said all that what's making this game engaging is as I've said the art style but more importantly the combat.

I have never heard of this game, but do enjoy a good RPG from time to time. Most role playing game selections are littered with crap but this one looks fairly good to tend with. Downloading off Microsoft Games for Xbox, I'm sure I wont be disappointed since I have always trusted the IGN reviewers with about a 85% satisfactory rep. Take care all, and happy gaming!

Uhh.. the "focus" is NOT on the story, it's on the combat.

The combat is amazing and the reason to play Tales in general.

@llellNiCe The price will vary by store, but it's a couple years old, so it shouldn't be close to full price. It's not all in Japanese, whoever told you that was misinformed. The game is exclusive to the 360 in the states, though... so if you are asking as a PS3 owner, you would have to import it from Japan, in which case I don't know if there are english voices... best of luck, and enjoy!!! :D

While Estelle (ToV version of colette) is actually not as dimwitted as Colette was. With that said, the battle system is not as smooth as ToS. It has some new features not in ToS that really add to the game, but the blocking is rather hard to do since you can't block midway through your attacks like ToS. So far, though, I'm really enjoying the game. I just bought it on demand since the price wasn't (and isn't) dropping anytime soon.

I just bought the game today. Couldn't stop playing. There are a few things I like more than tales of symphonia. First of all, the characters don't get as annoying. Lloyd was a walking cliche. Colette was just plain pathetic. I did like the rest of the cast in ToS though. I think it helps ToV that this game is not so cartoon looking like ToS. I'm able to take the characters more seriously. @wawkillzone there are 2 MMORPGS on Xbox 360. One is Final Fantasy XI and the other is phantasy star universe. FFXI was amazing for a very long time and it was the first MMO I had ever played. @jayjaycreativevlog Generally all tales of series have a good storyline. I haven't played the lost oddssey, so I can't help you there but for FF13, this game has a WAY better storyline than FF13. Sure FF13 has good graphics and a good battle system, however it's storyline and dialogue doesn't make sense. In this game there is a good storyline and the characters are generally likeable (: and who doesn't like character development? I highly recommend this game,

Ok, the game is not bad, but it was a huge disapoitment of mine buying this games, i had the TALES OF SYMPHONIA for game cube and it was my best game, i had 500 hurs of gameplay on it, then i decide to buy tales of vesperia and its completely different game when talking about gameplay, the combat is so slow that it gets boring even if you are high-level and have many skills. And The characters are quite childish and different from what i was used to (like lyoid)

@buzzkill131 No, I don't own a PS3. I have three xbox 360s. One's an xenon jtag, then we have a glitched slim, and a regular slim. The xbox 360 just isn't fit for Japanese games. If you want to play em' go with a PSP, PS1, PS2, PS3, or a Nintendo DS.

@kingkodi1universe yes, after you beat the game and go through the credits and what not, your save mode becomes an x save or something, basicly telling you u beat the game. load that up and u should be at the part just before the last boss fight

Story:8;Cliche but nicely executed.

Music:8;Needs more variety.

Characters:9;Develops characters very nicely.

Gameplay:10;Fast-paced and almost never gets boring. Unique and interesting till the end.

Flaws: For a 360 game, the graphics are pretty mediocre. You CAN'T skip scenes so for people who replay this will waste hours watching scenes you have already watched.

I have this game for 360 and I liked this game but i hated how you only got to play as flynn for like 5 minutes. Because of this, I ALWAYS played as Yuri, i remember the 2 times i didn't play as him:

1. the haunted ship when you had to split the party in half.

and

2. the 5 minutes i spent playing as Flynn (It was actually like 20 because i reset a couple of time lol)

but overall it was an awesome game :)
