He was 95 years old 2 weeks ago! Legend......I have just bought the boxset of Airwolf and feared he had died....how chuffed was I when I 'googled' Ernie to find he is alive and well......here's to a few more years at least Ern ;-) I am 35 so was 7 when this great series came out....best series of the 80's.....and today ;-)
@volvot5turbo I'm 35 too and watched the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th seasons in the mid to late 80s. So cool! All actors so lovable and those days were just golden ones. I bought Season 2 and 3 on DVDs few years back.
Problem with a new Airwolf: No recent helicopter looks as sexy as the good old "Lady" Bell 222. Even the later Bell 430 is close, but not that sexy - probably because of the 4 bladed main rotor.
I am sorry, I loved the show as a kid, but how fucking old is this guy...? He was like 90 back when the shit was on and that was almost 30 years ago.... Glad to see he's still doing his thing... and his part in the movie Red wasn't too shabby either....
This interview is missing a part in the begining, where Ernest Borgnine talks about Jan-Michael Vincent and working with him. They should not have cut that part out!!!
May he live for manny more years, of cours never longer thanhe wants to . But he's one of the last of a very special generation and a propper legend for all his film and TV work. Didn't he do a lot of Cow boy films in the 60's and 70's. And he's in the Posidon adventure too isn't he?? or am Icompletely wrong about that. Any way he's done loads a' GREAT STUFF!
Ernest has always been one of my all time favorite actors.. mostly due to his almost endless diversity in roles and their ranges. Of course, the first role that comes to mind when someone mentions his name, is his portrayal of the 'soft-hearted, (but always denying it), uncle-to-everyone' character from the TV show Airwolf, Dominic Santini.. But, following that memory, is probably my all time favorite character of his. Lyle 'Cottonmouth' Wallace (aka Dirty Lyle), a crooked sheriff. Great movie
The latest version of this 'Airwolf-only' documentary was shot in May 2011 and is contained on the 'AIRWOLF: THE MOVIE' Region 1 DVD release by Fabulous Films for the USA release. He got "Davy" Jones name right in the the second interview though. ;)
A living legend.
