I haven't gotten the oppurtunity to play any game like DnD or anything, but i have debated it. Supposedly its a creative adventure game with endless options. It looks like it could be fun. I fail to grasp what is so deplorable about it that it warrants ridicule. My guess is that you are a bigot who just hates games or you've never heard of a casual gamer and assume all gamers look and act like that geek from the simpsons (because you are uneducated and live based on stereotypes)....

the biggest problem with D&D is that its obviously not a single player game, and if it was you would probably be best of just start writing a fantasy novel. Point is though, its a multiplayer game and in order to play you need a group of players. Sounds simple but its tediously complicated. If you want to play seriously then best thing is to watch a game in progress for a few hours or a day then ask the DM if you can join the campaign.

I think they meant paper and pencil roleplaying. Online games cant really be considered 'roleplaying' games, as the roles arent honestly being played. Games such as WoW, Diablo, are all about gearfests, power ups, gank squads. Theres no honest interest in the myth, lore, and adventure aspect of these games.
