  • Recreated this test, im in a BM spec, and less geared so damage doesnt get clipped. I happen to have 676 AP and 660 crit. 676 ap provides 67.6% dps, which tanslates into 20.5% different on the damage of my Frenzied Strike crit. A similar number on crit% provides 25% crit, or 12.5% additional damage. I know, when getting a raw crit vs ap boost, you get twice as much given to crit, which would be equal, but considering str = 1 ap, dex = 1crit, I gotta say, Str looks 2x. I miss something?

  • Maybe Ive misunderstood, but it seems you proved the reverse.

    1. AP was 20% of you damage

    2. Assume 40% crit

    40% crit * 50% crit dam bonus = 20% average damage increase.

So, 40% crit = (presumably) max ap.

A few issues make this a bit of an assumption, namely that you dont state your AP, and the overkill on that dummy, both reinforce my point.

'all of the damage comes from the sword', point well taken. all your gear only gives you 20% from ap, 20% from crit.

  • Those are some nice crits though in general O_o... Is it just me or are you doing WAY more dps than a rogue would do with the same level of gear? In all the rogue dps videos ive seen I've never seen any do this much damage.

  • I dont know if anyone said this yet but your cores are friggin wrong, read the damn tooltip, its has 92 strenght which is not AP. 1 Str only adds like .5AP. Get a damn core that actually has like +100AP in the +AP slot!!! the way it scales the +72Str and 24AP core would overall add more AP.

  • Hey Kas, try this test on the boss dummy instead. The dummy you're hitting has 3791 HP, so you're overkilling it with RW and getting a max of 3790 no matter what. You might see slightly (only slightly) better numbers on the other dummy.

Your overall point is right, though. Stat weighting in Rift is quite backwards, and it makes for some very awkward transitions between gear tiers.

  • @AhoyAndAvast78 Oh wow lol didnt even notice that. As i stated before, im not good at this game. I just press buttons.

  • AP needs poor scaling simply due to the fact that you scale (quite well in fact) off of weapon damage

  • @Pmmnm so whats the point in having gear?

  • @MrVideoGameGuy I didn't say nonexistent scaling

  • @Pmmnm big difference between "not scaling much" and "virtually not scaling at all" though lol.. this guy removed ALL his gear but 1 item and saw only like 12% change in damage, whatever game youre playing - if your dmg only drops 10 - 15% from removing all of your gear at max level, there is a problem.

  • That little of a difference is pretty messed up. We go crit/dex to crit more, which translates to more dps. Warrior pvp gear is mostly str, and we can switch a few things, and fully rune for dex, and that gives us damage, but the str isn't doing much of anything. In the video we don't get to see your previous AP, but it's probably +600 avg. 600 AP = 500 CRIT damage? Fail. That's a 1:.9 ratio. Whereas spell crits can exceed 5k in pvp. What's the math there? 1:3 ratio? GJ!

  • @poeun HK geared he should be at 900 with vial and personal str buff. thats 60-75% HK geared ofc.

  • @kamahlen I said +600 as in above the 225 AP he has with just a weapon on. Therefore 825 average, which IS the average at r8 in various specs. I always assume he's talking about pvp and therefore wouldn't be in all HK gear.
