  • ratio should be 8:3 of iron oxide to aluminum

  • its not the smartest thing to be mixing flammable things over your oven

  • dont mix things in your kitchen...

also wtf, you didn't measure them. and you should make smaller batches so you dont waste all your metal with one batch.

  • @moonasha They were already measured out before mixing. Also, not sure how any metal got wasted... all of this batch was burned up in one night of destruction

  • Man Thermit wan´t go off in your hands if you just mix it, you need a VERY high temperature to light it, it´s totally safe to mix it, you wan´t be able to shake that box so hard that it will generate the required heat.

  • you can get "red iron oxide" from toolstores, it is used to color walls, and stones in the garden and so on. the "red" color means that its Iron(III) Oxide which is better than the blackone for making thermite.

  • At what point did you think that making THERMITE inside the house was a bad idea? Was it the floors that tipped you off, or was it the fucking THERMITE? Either way, major laughs were had by me due to this video, and, all joking aside, this was actually quite informative. Thanks for the laughs, and thanks for the info.

    Peace,

    ~Andy~

  • I thought Iron Oxide was red?

Anyways You forgot to light a match on it :P

  • The color depends on what kind of iron oxide it is (FeO being black)

  • @NAMLegolas Iron Oxide is just rust. . . So it depends on the severety of Iron (Fe) or Oxygen (O) Im pretty sure the more oxygen to iron means more of a red color.

  • In regards to the iron oxide used to make it does it have to be one type of iron oxide? im using the salt water and 6 volt battery charger at 2 amps method and i am only able to get a small amount non-magnetic iron oxide all the rest that is produced is magnetic and i am unsure if it will hinder the reaction in anyway if i mix the magnetic and non-magnetic iron oxide.

  • Dude.... that's way more complicated than it should be. Go to eBay and buy a pound or two of iron oxide rather than trying to make it..........

  • pretend that i dont have the means to pay Electronicly online no debit card no credit no nothing just cash and i went to a paint store and asked for those ingredients they dont have any dry powder form.

  • well, I'd get a package of steel wool and drop it in a plastic container with water and a little salt, then let it sit out in the heat for a bit.

  • Go to walmart and get one of those use anywhere visa gift cards. Easy!

  • seriously..? i am trying to make thermite, ive made the iron oxide and far more than i need like 5 piles 10cm high, but the aluminum is killing me. i think making the iron oxide it easy enough to make.

  • So shaking it in a plastic container is going to create more static electricity than your hand holding a pen with metal in it? Thermite is pretty dang stable, homie.

  • This was the first encounter with thermite. I've learned much since then :)

  • lol u need magnesium to ignight thermite or a sparkler like the guy said a sparkler cos some of them contain magnesium and static electrisity doesnt get as hot at magnesium lol so it wont ignight the thermite

  • AND OMFG!!! thermite is not illigal!! idiot!!!

  • Who said that it was?

  • DID you know that thermite is incredible stable!???

Why the heck do you think we're using Mg to ignite it?-_-

  • What the hell are you talking about?

  • He's saying in a blunt manner you won't ignite with static. It needs something like 1500 celsius or w/e to start. (don't judge on that I really don't know)

  • Thermite is legall!-_-'

And you can ignite it with sparklers!

  • Believe it or not, sparklers are essentially thermite paste on a metal stick.

  • No shit but, not asactly.

    Sparklers are made of:

    - Iron

    - Aluminium

    - Potassium chlorate

    - and some thing more, don't think there is iron or something else that can be used as fuel for the aleminium!;)

  • "essentially thermite" you idiot, not "exactly thermite"

  • Well, why didn't you say that dumpas?:)

  • I did. What exactly is a "dumpas", you dumbass?

  • WTF? thats just stupid

whats your calculation to make thermite?(the reaction, ammounts,...)

  • What is stupid, other than your inane commenting?

  • you don't do youre homework before just mixing shit up?;)

    Thats STUPID!

  • yeah I found that out the hard why when I lit about 35 of them all at the same time bundled togeather. Got too hot to hold and burned a hole in the sidewalk I droped it on. Sweet.

  • what can I use to ignite the thermite ?

  • Magnesium Strip. Then light the magnesium strip with a blowtorch.

  • I just stole all the ingreedients from my school. As well, mix it with a small amount of playdough. You can stick the Mg ribbon in easier, and u can stick the thermite to stuff XD

  • good floors and what are they made of

  • They are made of cat feces, rotten refried beans, and circa 1424AD rosewood coffin leftovers.

I have no idea. I rent this crapshack.

  • gro t k toi tu voudrai tu mnager ma main sa yeul calis de cave c koi ton porob de laisser des comentaire de mm

  • gop hooo glop blorp torby blorp choo chorp

  • why wouldnt u eat the themite??

  • I had an iron deficiency as a child, but it went away when I was 9. I see no need to eat thermite these days.

  • Cool vid but you would need a lighting bolt to set it off.

  • Or a strip of magnesium....

  • ''thermite dont eat'' lol

  • awesome!
