I have yet to figure out why the all girls I ever thought were cute or pretty always dated the football jocks in high school. They never showed any genuine interest in a nice, gentle, quite, happy-go-lucky guy, like me. I was always stuck “waiting in the weeds” whether I wanted to be there or not.

I love this song. It proves that if you wait for the perfect time to make your choices in life, you'll just end up watching your life go by without you and that you have to take chances in life. I also believe that mistakes only happen when you're brave enough to make decisions in the first place.

This is a Don Henley masterpiece, and this is a great cover version. Nice humorous touch with a Glen lookalike walking his girl past a Don lookalike to a Honda Sports (aint a real Ferrari) with a hole in the floor, and this band aint the real Eagles. Which, I suppose, is their point. But they are not far from the real thing. Very enjoyable.

I love my guitar. Martin's Custom Shop made it for me in 1995. I was trying for the look of the cowboy guitars as sold by Sears (1930's - 1950's era).

Leaving the best part out was a mistake ("imagine sun light in your hair, you're at the county fair..."): - but I guess the high voices of Don Henley are a way too much for an average dude to sing.

John had planned on singing the whole song, but it was my idea to trim it (for YouTube) from 7 minutes to 3 minutes. You're right how that part goes way high, but the music gets complicated there too. I wasn't as concerned about the vocals, as I was about myself being able to handle the guitar part smoothly. Anyway, there is no substitute for the Eagles - they sure do it right.
