Google censors political views in Western countries, so it should not pretend to be shocked about Chinese censorship. While Google has not yet completely censored my website dealing with The Huffington Post’s censorship, the search engine has cut my website out of searches containing, for instance, the keywords “global warming” and “censorship” as well as “Huffington Post” and “censorship,” but interestingly not “Arianna Huffington” and “censorship.” Please see my YouTube channel (Xarkonul).
I believe it it a war between international providers of information to the public. The one who wins, wins the peoples trust. The safer the customer feels with one is going to be there choice................... YOu go google.........
I'm Chinese and I do not believe in mass media, I always think they are hiding something. But you must be very naive to believe that the information provided by private international corporations are not censored or politically oriented, no matter where you are.
I hope I'm not the only one who sees the irony in the set of mental giants here praising China and bashing Google via youtube, WHICH IS BANNED ENTIRELY IN CHINA. If you support China's position so much, perhaps you should stop using youtube.
Google, just like any other company that do business in China, can pull out if they are displeased with the rules there. Please spare me the fire and brimstone on morality and freedom. After nine eleven, George Bush has instructed Google to provide all information/history on every single user it requests without telling the subscriber. Huge number of users were spied on. Obviously the American governmant is controlling it's population with greater finesse.
Chinese economy is growing & strong, but it won't last b/c it's artificial & unsustainable. They've been manipulating their economy & the rest of the world won't allow them to do that forever. Also, their population is massive & it's aging. When the disenfranchised in China become dissatisfied enough, China will either have another revolution or they will have to redirect public outrage by starting a war... possibly a world war. China has to continue to expand it's territory or else collapse.
to be honest, im more worried which poor country america will decide to invade next and bomb their women and children while taking their oil. the world must stand up to america, who continues to threaten peace around the world
@hcn9 - I don't disagree. In general, poor countries have more to fear from the US than China... but that might change in the future. As their population ages, the Chinese government might become increasingly imperialistic & militaristic. Neither the US nor China are the good guys, but I think the US has greater potential to do good in the world... & of course greater potential to do harm.
i disagree. after their population ages, the chinese government will simply scrap the one child policy which is the cause of it. i mean, how the hell would they become imperialistic just becuz they have an ageing population? makes no sense lol. just remember - china has not invaded any country or fought any wars in more than 30yrs...
Even if they change their one child policy, it will be decades for their young population will catch up with their aging population. They're supporting their population right now by artificially controlling their economy & other countries are challenging them about that. It's not that they'll become imperialistic but that they'll become more imperialistic. They took over Tibet because they wanted to mine in the region. There is no reason to think they won't want or need to expand in the future.

Looks like China's growing domestic production is forcing out more foreign businesses than just Google.

I think Google was defeated by Baidu and US gov.
Baidu had already won by the market share in China.
I envy Chinese which can use domestic production.
Japan was monopolized by American.
Though Google had censored in China,
Can we prove that Google don't censor in Japan?

a world of free flow information is the way to go, when we share ideas with the world we can accomplish much more.
Only the lack of educating ones self well it create harm amongst others.

This could be a big blow to Googles development.
But they HAVE to stand up for freedom from censorship.

freedom from censorship? I am wondering you must be blind about Google operating in US.
