However, the war of attrition and the 1973 war were together a strategic victory for Egypt. The Egyptians demonstrated that they could neutralize Israeli fortifications and force Israel to absorb expenses in blood and treasure that it could not sustain in the long run. The Egyptians lost the battle but they won the war for the Sinai.

The Egyptians had difficulty operating outside the range of their ground to air defense. Do you want me to say that the iDF was awesome? Fine they were awesome. The fact remains that the Egyptians achieved their objectives in spite of successful Israeli counterattacks. I actually see the result as a stalemate, but I can see why many Arabs see it as a victory.

However, the war of attrition and the 1973 war were together a strategic victory for Egypt. The Egyptians demonstrated that they could neutralize Israeli fortifications and force Israel to absorb expenses in blood and treasure that it could not sustain in the long run. The Egyptians lost the battle but they won the war for the Sinai.

The Egyptians had difficulty operating outside the range of their ground to air defense. Do you want me to say that the iDF was awesome? Fine they were awesome. The fact remains that the Egyptians achieved their objectives in spite of successful Israeli counterattacks. I actually see the result as a stalemate, but I can see why many Arabs see it as a victory.

@bleushift egypts aim was to recapture the sinai, which they did, if the aim was to "wipe israel off the map" as you claim they would have:
1. adopted different tactics, they captured part of the sinai and dug in defencive positions, if they wanted to destroy israel they would have at least attempted to push accross the sinai and into israel
2. attacked israel directly, they did not, as far as i know, launch any attack, ground, air or missile, into israeli borders, what you claim is a lie
