  • Can you tell me where I could get the UK slide on plug for the charger please?

  • @GlasgowVideoTV sorry, came with the kit, I'd check ebay

  • can the date/time/frame count be turned off to give you clean saved video?

  • @FlyMRIMicroscopy yes it can

  • Nice video. good quality. Love the fact that you can see where the camera is facing instead of getting home putting it on your computer and finding out that it was pointing in the direction.

  • if doesnt have a card in,can it store only on the recorder?

  • @tigra8559 I think it can store a tiny amount on the recorder. But just use a card

  • Too much wiring!

  • Hi,

Are you able to download the footage to a PC?

    Thanks

    Eddie

  • @SuperEddie49 of course, saves as avi format. but encodes as mpeg nothing clever, just like using a digital camera

  • Do you use the suction mount on a cycle helmet or a different mount?

  • @bikecam16 I made my cycle mount from cable ties, for motorbike I use the suction mount on my helmet

  • Great video, I just found that in the US you can get a similar DVR on eBay if you search for "Angel DVR"... I just bought one, there are two different versions, one of which can a TF/microSD card up to 8GB. The eBay kit also comes with a very tiny camera that's meant more for "spy" uses, but you can get a bullet cam like the one in this video for about $40USD and hook it up via composite. Some Adel clamps and suction cups and it's nearly the same setup :)

  • Great review, thanks for posting this.

Do you know if it's possible to use a different bullet camera to the one which is supplied?

Say if I wanted to upgrade the bullet camera at a later date, would I be able to use the upgraded cam with this DVR, and still use the playback, etc?

I might buy the Mini DVR 2 and use it as a car dash cam 24/7. The DVR 2 is able to record on a loop which is ideal. I just need to know if it'll work with other bullet cams.

Do you have any more footage?

  • @Zildjian285 thanks, Well I know with my camera you can use any camera with a composite output.

The DVR2 powers it's camera without external power, so I imagine it maybe harder to use a different unit. But I'd imagine it should be possible to get the AV cable that fit's the DVR1 and this will allow you to use any camera. Give Dogsport a ring, their very helpful.

    other vids are:

    watch?v=dx2BwPjYEls

    watch?v=CntyNSvxfd8

and you have seen the grasstrack

  • May I ask a question? If I put an AVI file (such as a film in divx) on the SD card, can I view it from the little screen?

    Thanks for your help

  • The recording is in the list on P mode when i take out the SD card and also there is an icon of an SD card.

  • hum, that's weird, that means it's recording to the internal memory of the DVR (hence why you can only record for 3mins) But it's seeing your SD card ok as you have the icon.

Very odd. It should be working fine, the SD card hasn't got the write protect switch turned on? only thing I can think of.

  • Thanks for the reply. I doesn't seem to work still saying 3minutes. I think it might be the miniSD card the give me!?.....

  • hum, yeah that does sound like a dodgy SD card.

Try one last thing for me, record your 3 mins of footage and then turn the dvr off and remove the SD card, if you turn the device back on and go to P mode is the recording in the list?

Also when your recording in the left hand corner of the screen is there an tiny icon of an SD card?

    Cheers

  • Hi

I have the same system to you, i can't seem to get recorder to record on the miniSD card. i can only record between 3-12minutes....

    Thanks

  • hi mate, try this:

1.set the switch to R mode

    2. hold down the m button to bring up menu

3.go to storage and select MSDC

    4. go to format and select MSDC and say yes

See if that works, cheers Ruu

  • "Dont just go bluh because they will come off " ahahhahaha great vid thou plan on getting the dvr recorder if i can

  • Thanks for the reply. I'll buy one. Cheers.

  • make sure you give dog sport a call as they were doing deals on my setup

  • I was after the DVR 2 system for Metal Detecting. Can you see any problems with 1. using this system with the camera attached to one of my headphones. 2. uploading to youtube 3. picking up my commentary when walking along detecting. 4. Editing footage enjoyed the review. Regards Glenn

  • hi, can't see any issues what so ever with any of the points, you might want to change the mic for a headset type so it's clear on windy days, that's about it.

    Cheers Ruu

  • i have a question can u put your camera anywhere and it will show its surrondings in the Dvr screen wierlessly?

  • no, this is a fully wired setup, the dvr shows the live camera image.

  • uuuuuhhhhuueeee loads of stuff there....

    heheh epic nice vid 5/5

  • thanks, glad you liked it

  • kool..nice what do u think in quality video... any chance of a file to be sent in full hi quality so i can burn it and see it on tv... is this the 520 Sony Exview camera.??? if so i`ll defo buy it!! lol... thanks!! briliant review!!!

  • Hi, thanks.

I like the quality for the price you pay and the size of the setup. It's not the best but more than good enough for amateur stuff. I think I had the 520 HQ1, the kit has change a bit since I bought it..

send me your e-mail address and I'll try and post you a raw file when I get home. But the HQ playback on YouTube, is fairly close.

    Cheers Ruu

  • Looks like a really neat piece of kit. Is there an option to hard wire the equipment into a vehicle? Also, is there a time/date stamp feature? Cool review by the way.

  • Good questions mate, hardwiring the bullet camera should be ok to a 12v supply, but I'd probably fit a regulator. The DV unit will charge off USB, so I guess you could adapt a mobile phone charger. But for a little more money there are better systems to hard mount. checkout DV500.

The DV unit does do time/date stamp.

    Glad you found it useful.
