Sonar X1 is great but too many errors, it won't even load correctly on my PC, and Cakewalk support is not responding to emails or phone calls to not just me but to everyone.. so I have moved on to a more stable DAW.. Its sad

@BoulderHead469 Use the reinstall disk for Beatscape or go to the website for the beatscape upgrade. its looking for the original version. you must have multiple instances of Beatscape store on your pc. find them and delete it completely

@hans1478 Im not using a laptop its a desktop- a customize HP and my laptop is a customize dell, they both work great.. on the laptop I use Win 7 and desktop Vista 64

nice tutorial. i wish my sonar had beat scape. i have question about arranging:

can i create different patterns in the step sequencer so i can structure the patterns into a song? i usually work in reason or fruity loops, cakewalks a bit complex.

You can arrange which is more difficult since you don't have Sonar 8.5.. the New updated Sonar has a matrix view where you can arrange your songs on the fly and more structured easier. but it can be done. .its just more little steps involved.. And I mean little steps

No, Beatscape is only bundled with Cakewalk Sonar

Yes, I have Kinetic 2.. I use it but K2 can't be rewired on a x64 bit system. Propellorhead (makers of reason) hasn't made rewire a x64 bit compatible yet.. so I can only use k2 in standalone

Yup. Thats the step sequencer.. It's located at the top it looks like a "square BOX with a bunch of dots inside of it" most likely it will be next to the piano roll button.. Right under the tabs keys "FILE, EDIT"

Convert your Midi tracks to audio.. or just play it as a midi track and record your voice on an audio track

Not quite sure what you mean by the ins and outs. The beatscape track input and output are set as you describe and the step sequencer details are preset by beatscape. What else has to be configured?

When I do everything you say and play the track, it only sounds for the first beat of every measure, whatever I put in the step sequencer. What am I doing wrong?

In the Step sequencer, you must have your ins and outs set correctly, and Set Beatscape to manual play for each sample/pad.. Did you do that?

Keep doing your thing O. That was very helpful to me because I' ve been thinking about getting rid of my pro tools altogther. Sonar is the shit to me. It sounds better in my opinion and I have had sonar le for about 5 years and I'm used to it. Thanks

Exactly how can I record directly from Beatscape(without a midi device) to a MIDI track? Nothing is helping me, not ever the "Help Manual".

Without a midi device you will need to use the step sequencer, as described from above. Then once oyu create your beat.. Just turn Midi to audio.. to have an audio track or just leave it to have a midi track.. You can use the step sequencer for bass/synth/guitar/piano parts and everything else..

On the same midi track you have Beatscape on.. call up the step sequencer.. to actually record on a midi track

Hey bro! I really need to know how to sequence my beats that I create in beatscape... Basically I need to know how I can arrange it to where I can export the beat as a hole beat not just the chorus. Because I want to build up from the intro and verse, Please explain how I can do this?

you would export the beat thru Sonar of course.. convert to audio then export .wav or Mp3...

You can use multiple instances of Beatscape or when you use the step sequencer exend the bars out to the length you want it..

What do you need help with? you can make your own loops by selecting drum slices, such as kick, snare, hi hat, etc.. then use the step sequencer to create a loop.. I will help you just tell me where to start

Waz up.. In Beatscape I would have like to seen more latin beats, and that straight old westcoast flavor. Many of users have talked about more latin/ World/Tribal beats including myself. I think the sounds are great, I'm mainly a hip hop producer so I'm always looking for some gritty lo-fi sounds. Hey keep up the great work.. Peace

You didnt exlpain the "in notes" section. How did you get those numbers? Mine are still default and I'm unsure what to label them, just copy yours or what? Can you explain in further detail?

You can copy mine, this will give you all the notes that corrospond to beatscape, so when you call up beatscape no matter what pattern is used its the same numbers for everything. I mention before that it starts from C3 which equals to Note # 36, If yours are still default then you must move up or down the note spectrum. It should automatically recongize what occupies tht note Number #36 (Kick).. If you want I can make a drum map for you and send it to you...

Yes.. using the piano you can click and drag your beat to the length you want.. you can create any beat using the piano roll
