@MrMuzzyBasher if you're a music theorist, this is one of the quintessential things to know, such as knowing what a verb is when constructing a sentence...and the circular pitch class space is a method of naming notes numbers. it's extremely simple. i'm a student in a music school, and have taken theory classes, yet don't go around calling myself a music theorist.
