The "normal" video format of YouTube is FLV. when you click on HQ it will become .MP4 adds some more quality but not too much and if you want HQ with the videos that doest have that option just add &FMT=18 at the end of the video link it should appear Turn off HQ below the video.

My latest video can be viewed in high quality and the difference is amazing, you can really see the dolphins swimming underwater whereas before they were just a blur. Getting the high quality option is easy, just upload at high quality (640x480 and at least 900 kbps)

Higher quality just sets the resolution to 640 by something...I have found that using the rubbish Windows Movie Maker to compile vids gives the High Quality option.

Unfortunately, they also have distorted audio which results in ugly clipping. This has been a bug for several months and I've reported it several times with a clear reproduction (my own videos), but haven't heard more details about a possible resolution. So it's a step forward visually, but a step back sonically. :(

Guys dont you know, its not &fmt=18 for everyone, it varies for different countries! As far as I know &fmt=18 works for USA and others, but for UK like me its &fmt=6! Also it doesnt work for all videos, If you upload your videos in WMV format than this trick works, but the sound is still mono although louder! I know a way for HD vids with stereo sound (hence my name) just see my vids for prrof
