hey you can also substitute the white sugar and use brown it gives this recipe much more flavor and also a nice colour ....grt video btw...i'm Trinidadian and i used to make that to sell we use the banana leaves to set it...
Woooow, I haven't seen sugar cakes in ages! I loved em when I was a child! Thanks for bringing back those memories and of course thanks for the recipe!!! :D
Wow! I have not had sugar cakes since I was a child. My grandmother used to make them. But hers was brown... She probably used brown sugar instead of white...
I will have to try this out soon... Is there a diabetes-friendly version of this recipie? I don't know if you could make it with sucralose (Splenda) or not.
Chris, You are the Man .. lol...Once again, a great vid. I have not made these in years. I did have the pleasure of eating some last year while visiting my homeland. Thanks for refreshing the memory.
That looks fantastic!

Question: what flavors are in the mixed essence? This is the first time I've ever heard of it.

Do you think an ice cream scoop is too big to spoon the sugar cakes? Or maybe a melon baller? I think they would look nicer as little round mounds.

@theromulanwarhawk Try using Agave syrup instead of splenda. Artificial sweeteners are not good for the body in the long term
