  • I'm trying to replace my screen for my patio, but seem to be having problems getting the spline into the grooves to even get started

  • Thanks for posting that - straight forward instructions. I was amazed to see 7 dislikes until I realized they probably replaced screens for a living! ;)

  • Best, most complete viseo on this subject. Thanks.

  • Great video! Thumbs up for starting it with Weird Al Yankovic! :D

  • Very thorough! Just what I was looking for. Thanks!

  • my dog just charged through my screen door, and your video just showed me how to fix it lol, thanks very much :)

  • Spline tool is easy. Pull out old stuff. Square off your new fiberglass piece, lay it atop the frame. Run the spline tool round edge inside the groove on two sides of the same corner, so that the mesh is now a channel, with the outside of the mesh coming up toward the sky from the angle of the groove. Take spline tool scooped half, slowly run it around the spline, making the spline snug inside the frame atop the mesh. Then cut mesh off, so you can tension it. same other side. Great vid.

  • Ok, we had a monster hail storm here a few weeks ago. 9 screens got ripped to shreds. In the past I would drop my screens off at the hardware store...not this time thanks to you. I just replaced my first one and it was a snap...only 8 more to go and I get to keep the $100 bucks it was going to cost me. THANKS so much. Great instructions.

  • Thanks for the video. I'm in Japan, and I think I might have saved myself a few thousand yen ($50).

  • great video

  • Thanks. Helped alot. If I can't figure it out, I'll get your dog to fix it, he was really paying attention!

  • Good instructional video but notice how much difficulty this guy has with the spline roller tool (pizza roller).

Try the ScreenMouse - Home Depot - $6. Will save much frustration.

  • Do you use one long piece of spline or do you cut it ?

  • you covered things that the Don Golden vid missed, well done, thanks so much, your wife is so lucky .

  • I am a single mom - always relied on my husband for things like this. I didn't have the money for a new screen and I was able to do this myself based on your instruction. Trust me, if I can do this anyone can. Thank you!

  • Thanks for the video - can you show me how to replace a screen on a pool cage ?

  • Thanks very much for doing this...saved us enough to get the kids a basketball net...

    All the best to you!

  • Huge help! You took the mystery out of it, and you've saved me from hiring someone to do this for me. I appreciate it!

  • Thank you! I almost bought the screen door but decided to try and replace. Great instructions!!

  • thank you so much! my fiancee wanted to spend $ to have somebody else do this - I knew it was simple, so now I can do it myself after seeing your video! Thanks so much!

  • Thank you for the tutorial.

  • Thanks for the video. I need to do a massive 1600sq foot screened porch. Gonna pay someone for the top part above the pool, but now I can do the bottom myself!

  • Wonderful! We tried to do it using a screwdriver. Never even heard of a spline tool.

  • Great video- much better than expert village- thanks!

  • @HybridWaterMan2 I've never seen an Expert Village video that was of any use, many of them are simply wrong.

  • Amazingly helpful. I feel 100% more confident in doing this now. Thanks.

  • Great video! Thanks

  • The dog is wondering " who this guy is taking to? "

I did it. Great video! Muchas gracias !

  • I did it. Muchas gracias !

  • None of you DIY screen door guys show what to do at the latch!

  • Excellent video, I did it, looks perfect.

    Can't be that.

  • Great video, expert village? guy was saying cut the screen to size before putting it on. I wonder how that worked out. His was a tiny screen compared to yours.

I needed to see how you cut it.

The screen I replaced is big like your example, and it cost less than $10 for the special tool and screen from the hardware store.

The only improvement to suggest would be showing a dog or person jumping through a screen causing the need to repair it.

  • hats off diy brother.

  • Thanks for your video...this helped a lot. GO HAWKS!

  • Thanks for the help!

  • Love that dog behind the door!

  • you will spend the exact same money on buying the tools and materials .. on doing one screen .. as just going out and getting it done and avoiding the chances of messing up ... the price range is between 5$ and 35$

  • Great Video. Always great to see it done before I try to do it myself and mess up. You make it look easy enough for anyone to do it !

    Thanks Again

  • Thank you! You have the most helpful, straightforward instruction.

  • Good Video! Thanks!

Quick question: Do you use one piece of continuous spline, or do you cut it as you come to each corner?

  • Go Hawks!

  • Thanks for making the video. I knew this had to be fairly simple, but had never done it before. I like to do things myself as much as possible to take care of my home and save money, and you made that a lot easier to do!

  • Great Video. You just saved me 40 bucks. Thanks

  • That's why I do it! I'm glad you found my video to be helpful.

  • @halemeister its been a long time since you upload this but it did help me a lot thanks for taking the time to do it....
