I think I will! They have them at equine affair at columbus Ohio and it is an hour away from me. I have looked at all the practice obsticles and husband is gonna help me build a teeter-totter. Should be fun!! Thanks for your help. Susan
I thought you had to mount from the ground! It seems like since it's a race, laying him down would take more time, maybe they would let me. I can get on with a mounting block but it's still not pretty. (Two badly broken legs held together with titanium) plus rheumatiod arthritis... I limp bad. But not when riding! LOL
@susanspice It is timed, but that's not the most important thing. If you ace the rest of the ride, you can definitely still win. I was definitely not the fastest one in this race, but since I made up for time with extra points garnered by my execution of the obstacles with only a neck strap, I still ended up scoring well.
I want to do this but am concerned my physical issues would hold my horse back.( I am permanently lame/ disabled) I ride fine but can't mount easily. Would be OK until bareback mounting time, unless he would let me have Jack bow or lay down.....
@susanspice I think that they would have no problem with you laying your horse down/using a mounting aid. They almost always have a mounting block available if you can't get up yourself. Also I think you might garner more points by having a horse that will lay down on command! :)
@gaited07 Thank you!! Yes, I'm still competing in them... but I only made it to 2 this year. Still managed to qualify for the World Championship, but I definitely don't want to make that trip this year. haha..
Thank you sooo much! That really really means a lot to me.
well, we weren't sure we wanted her once we got her home either, lol! She hated people and was a skinny b-witch! She knew nothing and was days from being sent to the meat auction when we got her. but it seems she's come around (eh?!), and she seems to be thanking us every day for the life we've given her. (I have her whole story on "Lucy: The Best Pony on Youtube")
thanks! That's ok. Tiny did great! He didn't look at anything. We were in 1st after dressage, then I had 2 time faults and that knocked us down to 2nd!! Darn it! I never have time faults... but it's better than rails or refusals in my book! ;) Jesse James looked great! You're a very pretty rider! :)
That Great ya jesse didnt look @ much either! ya i was very happy with our finish we were 3rd after dressage and had 4 time faults but moved up to 1st. and i agree about the rails and refusals! thanks so much! you and tiny looked great!

Lucy is an awesome horse. But you need to give yourself credit for excellent horsemanship. She didn't do that alone.. Susan
