Lucky, good for you. There's nothing wrong with diversifying into gold. No one can print more gold or silver out of thin air, unlike dollars. Hedging against risk is good horse sense.
Silver is fluctuating, but that's because people are taking notice of it. At the end of the day, the more $s that the Fed creates, the more $s you get per troy oz, Au or Ag.
I know you love dimes and you should, when the opportunity presents itself, seriously consider grabbing some 1/10 Gold Eagles. They are like gold dimes. :)
Interesting to note that the face value of that Gold Eagle is US$50. Looked at one way, the US Gov't is saying that 50 bucks should actually be worth 30 times that. I know that's not what they mean, but at $1,530+/oz, Gold, that's what that "$5" is actually valued at. =^[.]^=
