  • jesus fucking christ

  • brother you touched my soul with this song.

  • The person who "disliked" this either clicked on the wrong or was trolling. Ignore him.

  • 1 damn fool didn't like it.

  • They sure don't make 'em like the used to

  • The greatest of great. Thanks Ray are all the many years of great music.

Rest In Peace - Glad I lived during your time.

  • when he clears his throught, its all flemmy like he has a cold. Makeing this vid a little more awesome.

  • I'm told I was born in the wrong year, Ray, was a wonderful man.Love his music.

  • @bobyoung53 the great Leroy Cooper on baritone.

  • beautiful, just beautiful! and Margie looks fine

  • la più bella versione a mio modesto parere.

    e' fantastica!

  • It goes so slowly that it almost falls out of the sound-sky. But what mastery to be able to make it rock at that tempo.

  • I love Ray Charles, but my devotion is to Eva Cassidy's version. Anything she sang becomes her own.

  • Is he drunk?

  • @ManElder1000 his heroin days, sometimes genius finds a gateway beyond this world and brings it home.

  • Brings a tear to my eyes

  • His level of artistry and musicality allows him to even scream on key. There will never be another singer like this.

  • someone kill me i wanna meet this guy

  • OH YEAH CLASSIC

  • Could this be the slooooowwwwest blues/gospel song of all time? I read that Ray would go crazy if the drummer could not keep exactly to this lentissimo beat. Around 3.53 Ray nails the excitement with his primeval screams. Then there are the Raylettes in the sensational climactic Greek chorus of gospel responding. They say they were called the Raylettes because they let Ray do what he wanted with them ---- and there is that servility in the brisk, almost military exit, but at 6.34 - wow!!!

  • @artistrytucson It's nice to see some other cunning linguist post on YouTube. Poetry, mang. Give this man a thumbs up!

  • get it Margie

  • fuck.

  • SLOW, SLOW, SLOW... The Genius!

  • Around the 3:30 mark.... it occured to me that this was the heaviest thing to ever go down in the history of mankind. ....mindblown.

  • THis is perhaps THE greatest blues recording of the fifties and sixties. Every other artist shrinks in comparison.

  • The 2 Raylettes in the middle are the great Marjorie Hendrix and the incredible Merry Clayton, 2 really magnificent singers. Merry is still blowing hard. RIP Sister Hendrix.

  • @Alemayehu45 This is the original Raelets. Merry Clayton wasn't a Raelet till several years later.

  • My all time favorite by the late great Mr. Ray Charles!

  • He takes his time to make you hurt =P.

    What a LEGEND!

  • 2 people did not drown in their own tears.

  • My favorite of his songs...but "Funny But I Still Love You" still is a close second.

  • Man..........I'm blown away listen to the horns, especially that bari sax!

  • Straight up heart. Broken. Unbelievable emotion.

  • fuck yeah Ray. Arm full of dope, the universe running through him . this is the triumph of the human spirit.

  • this was recorded on my birthday (:

  • "Whoa, it's all right!" Ray, you pullin' every last tear out of me. Such slow, painful, agonizing...hurt

  • Never heard or seen this version. Awesome and thanks for postin.

  • Ray makes this sound like a New Orleans funeral march. So much feeling.

  • @noclouds111 That's exactly what I was thinkin!!

  • @noclouds111 oh yeah most def

  • sends a shiver down my spine. Love you Ray X

  • Amo este tema, y no es que esté triste, para nada, es que la melancolía siempre está en el aire, es Ray al piano, que más se puede decir.

  • greatest song

  • love this song!!!! one of the best songs of all time!!! I maybe only 26 but i grew up listening to all kinds of music!!

  • what a gut-wrenching, soul-searing performance. ray charles is a master like none other.

  • there is another live version even slower than this one. No video, it is only on an album.

  • @MrDxrich That would probably be the one I grew up with.

  • It brings a tear... everytime I hear this marvellous song

  • This is historic.

  • i saw mr. charles at the Newport Jazz Festival a year or two before he passed away...one of the most emotionally charged experiences of my entire life...will never forget it....

  • I love how he coughs and just keeps going.....lol

  • Nobody can sing the Blues slower than the Genius. He wipes you out emotionally.
