If it sounds like direct audio, that's because it is. I record WHILE I PLAY which, by the way, is exactly how a song gets recorded in the first place; the only difference being, I am also recording a video simultaneously. As you do not seem to be a musician, or at least are unaware of modern recording tech, I forgive your ignorance.

It really depends on where you buy it from and what kind of deals you can get. I got mine for about $350 but I've seen it sell for much more and sometimes a little less. And if you buy one used, theres no telling what kind of price you may get!

Dude thanks! I was watching a special on Dan and how he wrote his music and I try to work in a similar way. Its not al about super speed or massive sweep runs. Getting a feeling of power and excitement in the song is what gets me going. Thanks for your kind words! Not offended at all bud; I go to metal concerts and hard rock shows when I can, and its rare to find people like myself there too. Its not necessarily that they won't/don't like it, often its due to fear of ridicule or not being able to fit in with their other peers.
