Starship troopers was written 40 years before halo. Bungie also credited Starshiptroopers as being very influential in the concept and development of halo... Notice the comparison between many of the weapons. The ships. etc.

Ther's no doubt Halo was infulenced by the book. Pretty much EVERY "space marine" based series has taken stuff from Starship Troopers. It was one of the first true "space marine" books.

The deployments of MI and ODST troops, for example. Practically identical.

Well, there's a lot of other similarites. The armor in Halo looks similar to the ones from the movie. The deployment of troops in the book (and, to a lesser extent in the movies and this show) are similar; dropping in from orbit. Some of the ships are similar too.

the marines even resembled the soldiers from the second aliens movie

Partially. But Aliens took stuff from Starship Troopers. And the POA doesn't look THAT much like the Aliens ship.

And the armor MI troopers wear looks NOTHING like any MJLONIR suit. It looks more like a leather padded armor set than anything else. Well, maybe the original Master Chief with that giant visor and the antenna on the back.

And the Doom guy is wearing a green shirt and a helmet. It looks nothing like MK VI.

Whoever choose Paul Verhoeven to direct Starship Troopers deserves to be shot! Anyone who has seen the movie and read the book knows how much he screwed this movie! I MEAN FUCK! Not only did he try to turn the characters into FUCKING NAZIS! He did not include powered armor, "half the reason [they] call [themselves] mobile infantry"! The movie and the series suck; the only hope of TRUE "Starship Troopers" fans is that some day this film will be made the RIGHT way!!

Ya, I wanted them to stay true to the book. In the book there was a global financial collapse caused by a mass war with china that ended in a global stalemate. Globally the vets took control of their local communities and imposed the federation where voting rights had to be earned through service. The bug war was the 3rd intersteller war. Rico originally wanted to be k9, carl died on pluto, the federal infantry used k suits. They used orbital drops, nukes, nerve gas and nova bombs to finally win
