Everyone is so down on Miss Bates, and I admit that she is EXTREMELY annoying, but if you think about it, most people would be in her situation. I mean, before Jane came back she was at home for YEARS basically ALONE. Her mother lost her voice shortly after Jane left, so she basically had no company and no one to talk to for over 15 years! Also, she's lost all of her money and lives in this tiny house with barely any room. She's still a good person, and it's not fair that Emma's so mean to her.

Jane is portrayed so different in the book though! at least in the introduction of her, she is more calm and reserved, more in control! But I love this Emma, she is just the impersonation of the book character! :)
