I like the cluster on your car better than mine. I have an 83 300SD. I like the chrome accents on the gauges; they really says classy. My Benz is more of a ghetto hoopty than anything else but it was cheap and it runs. I have a video of it if you are interested.
it might be cheaper for you to replace the dash, visit the city junk yard. You might get lucky. I wouldn't bother re-leathering cuz the it would look like the factory finish. Canadian models weren't exposed to that much sun. Thus the good looking dash boards. I have a 300SD now, same situation. Thanks for the comment.
@tommysbrowncaddy so there I was, BALLS DEEP... In tommysbrownmother, when she backfired and I was like damn baby! Better put a spark plug up in your mouth!
hi there again. just got myself a 1983 240D after sitting 3 years it fired up in about 1 second. after washing the mold and moss of the car you could see the nice ivory white paint and it looked better than my parents 2nd car. :)
@pittapitta by standard if you mean manual then yes! :) really easy to drive! but since the brakes are on pretty hard it cant drive in snow yet.. just spins the wheels. vids should be up soon of it :)
what are you on about? The North American model had power windows and Air Con standard. You could even add more luxuries like heated seats and air bags for an extra buck. Mine has air bags. I love the American W123 model. THe Euro model is I dont know a bit ify. But the W126 models were far better in Europe. Still Europe didnt get the turbo diesels.
@pittapitta ok, dunno what u mean by ify but the euro/original is the better looks. w123 USA bumpers compared to euro looks like big SAAB bumpers.. but really i didnt know all that equipment existed on the w123 :P i think they are best without all those unnesecary electrics.
Hey Pita...Great looking car, man! You said you were going to get one.....it looks like you found a great example. This one definitely looks like a keeper and the engine sounds strong. Tell us the story...how did you find it and was the price a bargain like mine at $2,000? They are fun cars to drive, heavy and solid. Many folks think these are "old men's cars", but lately, I've been getting teenagers admiring it. The older the car gets, the more the style commands attention, it seems.

brightlights456X 10 months ago
@brightlights456X
1) Absolutely, prolly reliable than most newer cars.
2) No, plenty of power but doesnt drink. OM617 is a piece of art.
3) 35mph on highway. Stick to highways and u can get 700km per tank easy. City 25-28mpg
