@ofatheroartither obviously u aren't involved in any kind of marching or keyboard percussion ensemble. If u don't understand the music or the technique or the art, u have absolutely no right to criticize it. This type of music is a completely different universe compared to Indian music. There really isn't any way to compare the two in the first place. And if u think that that was void of any skill, then make a video of urself doing that routine and we'll judge whether or not u were right.
rhythm in india is considered musical because the musicians use it in interesting, intellectual, conversational ways which mimic and reflect the nature of human interaction. not this bullshit where some asshole plays 100 million notes in 4 minutes all at the same dynamic. oh wait! he switches to soft mallets in the middle! oh god!!! now its so musical!!! get over yourself dci.
@ofatheroartificer I agree with what you said about music in India, it is intriguing and I enjoy it. However this "assholes" performance consisting of "100 million notes in 4 minutes" Takes loads of skill & hours of practice. I've never seen such amazing technique on tenors. Many people consider tenors and drumline music, MUSIC because they enjoy listening to them. This is What makes Tim Jackson a musician. Just because it is not your type of music doesn't mean it's not music.
B lue Devils represent, they need to win DCI this year even though this was made 5 years ago, they are still good, for any people who enjoy watching drum corps reherse and perform, check out the channel DrumcorpsTube
this guy is increadable, not only is he techniclly inclined, but he, unlike many drummers, uses phrasing to better emphasize his music as a type of language. thumbs up for sure
@mexi53 well for one thing those notes are in groups of three right? and they're not really that fast, but each of those groups of 3 notes is done entirely with one hand. Also those mallets are probably pretty heavy for what's being done with them.
You're an idiot. He's been one of the best quad players in the corps world since 2003. Every bit of this solo is premade and practiced. A lot of this stuff is a lot harder than it looks kid and he plays near flawlessly. Do you honestly believe that you have more knowledge than the judges of one of the most prestigious solo competitions in the world? They gave him first place because he earned it.
This dood is beast who saw wen he lost his stick then he played withed one this dood is awesome wonder wut he can do on drumset travis barker ain got nuthin on this dood right here jus cuz dis im gone suscribe

@KILLKALL333 Yeah man, I've been drumming for going on 4 years now, this is pure genius and talent. cracks me up how people think he spends little time on these tenor solos when he actually puts ALOT of hard work and time into this. Jackson is a talented tenor player. and one heck of a friendly guy.
@chiodos82 Niel Peart is a professional percussionist and can go many times faster with more control than this guy, but Niel isn't a show off. He could make any drummer soil themselves in a drum off. Be it Marching snare, tenors, vibes, or any other percussion instrument(except piano).
@PhilConey1 im a hardcore Rush fan. i play drums because of Neil Peart im 17 years old and have been to 18 Rush concerts. im telling you this because i love Neil Peart but i seriously doubt that he can play as fast as Tim Jackson. Tim Jackson is considered the 1 of the worlds greatest tenor players. and he can play many many more instruments. Neil is considered one of the worlds greatest set player. but you cannot compare these 2 instruments
@TheForeignReign He does it on purpose, it's to kinda show off, yes, to say I can drop my stick and still win the competition, but also he needs to change his stick and it's a cool transition to make people think he screwed up when it's all planned.
@drummer1388 I could see throwing a stick being intentional, but the way he flinched and reached for it as it slipped makes me HIGHLY doubt that was intentional. but messing up in music is all about how you recover since everyone's gonna mess up.
@RVParsenal11 no north carolina haha. but he tells the tenorsif they crossover they are doing it for visual but its easier to play the notes with crossovers and he makes them learn it without crossovers.
Wow I hope u aren't really calling him bad or stupid because he dropped his mallet. It's a competition, he did that on purpose so he could get recovery points
