  • Good old Matthew...mondo gonzo. The beard's gotta go.

  • When I watch his movies I have the feeling as if I have inhalated some glue or smthn

  • For someone who has a show about art, Ben Lewis strikes me as someone who really isn't that literate in the contemporary art world. You can make a drinking game out of every time an artist he's interviewing gives him a patronizing "uh-huh, yeah, ok" look in reaction to his inanities.

  • Asshole!

  • we want to see it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh Gugghenhiem, New York, i've been there.

  • I seem to have gone to the mysterious world. hemneko no escape

  • coming out on DVD in the US and Canada on September 22nd. Check Amazon, Netflix, etc.

  • how odd, a lot of people seem to hate this video artist. i've just watched 30 videos from 30 different video artists and this is one of the only ones i like!

  • Critics get offended by the fact that there are so many people who are into something that they don't like. I'm glad Barney is doing what he's doing.

  • These are pretty widely available through bootleg houses or as torrents. There's an attempt to control the ability to view these pieces by the Gladstone Gallery, and IP rights are a concern, but once something is in digital format it pretty much belongs to the world. If you want to see it bad enough, you can.

  • plus you can get The Order on DVD; these films intentionally have only rare showings, usually to investors. The original intent was live action performance art. Out of that grew the idea for films.

  • how hot is matthew barney

  • @xxtiaan Hotter than hell

  • @Kysarr bjork is a lucky bitch, Id so totally remake anal sadistic warrior with the guy

  • Comment removed

  • @xxtiaan *drools

  • @Kysarr hey heres some ball bearings

you know what to do with em

  • @xxtiaan The romance!

  • These films are impossible to view. They no longer screen at theaters, obviously you can's see them on DVD, where can you see them. Someone should tell Matthew Barney it's not art if you can't see it

  • oh dear, johnfudrow choses to talk about the development of art history in western civilization in terms of cups of tea. it is not discomfort i experience from Barney's pantomime dramatics but slight futility at the corrupt insider trading that operates as the art market. Art is never free from the market and 60's conceptualism attempted to challenge this, but we are in a state where dealers(Joplin, Gagosian) and artists(Hirst) buy back there own work at auction to raise inflated prices.

  • ponxee, are you a child? you have such simple intelligence. what the fuck is creativest? is it like one of those religious creationist half wits? because if it is i might be likely to agree with you on that.

  • i think he is a freemason , that would also explain where he gets the money

  • that's the stupidest thing...are you retarded? he just did the films out of sequence. therefore, the first - one - he - made - cost - the - least, and as time went on, more private investors and art museums paid him to make them. commissions.

  • Barney received the entire californian state arts funding for one year to film the cremaster series through the persuasion of Barbara Gladstone. this is both corrupt and retarded. where is the social value in this pompous driveling nonsense? i am yet to meet some one who can stay awake through his films.

  • I stayed awake to the 3 I have seen in full length. Just because something isn't your cup of tea or is beyond your realm of comfort doesn't make it worthless.

  • Yeah!

It's a Freemason conspiracy to have Barney's work around the world.

Be careful...the subliminal messages in the video might brain wash you...Don't watch it!

    Are you kidding?

How is it that only Freemasons have money?

    What happened to making $?

He went to Yale. The Yale and Rhode Island School of Design Alumni rule the New York art scene.

It's called networking. His recognition led to bigger film budgets. That's all.

  • didnt mean to piss anyone off....but i am the son of an 8degree freemason of the swedish rite in copenhagen..my father is a member of the lodge of absalon ..and this is clearly freemasonic symbolism ........

  • god fuck ppls sexual orgins.... sucha male

  • Where does he find money to make these large installations!!?

  • Sells art.

    Married to Bjork.

  • Selling art isn´t really anything that makes you rich... He made these things before he married Björk, didn´t he?

  • For most artists art makes little or no $ but an internationally reknowned artist like Mattew Barney isn't selling works to world institutions for pennies. He most likely gets a ton of grants and arts funding for his projects too.

Yes, he was a famous artist before he was married.

  • I guess you´re correct.

  • ponxee, smartest and the cutest)

  • way over rated.

  • he is the smartest and creativest person in tnhe world
