African Anglican churches have forgotten they are Anglicans with regard to scripture. They have been so influenced by protestant denominations, particularly the Pentecostals, who believe the Bible is the sole authority, that they forget that Anglicans must view Scripture not as a sole authority, but with regard to logic, reason and tradition.

If Akinola wants to be a Sola Scriptura Christian, let him join a pentecostal movement and stop distorting Anglicanism.

The Lambeth Conference will no longer matter. The bishops representing more than 70 percent of the Anglican Communion are attending GAFCON in Jerusalem this week. Most of these 300 men will not be at Lambeth.

If they're so sickening, it should be easy to prove how wrong they are. Why not engage them in discussion? They are very strict in forbidding the nastiness that runs rampant on reappraiser blogs (they are stricter on conservatives than liberals), so you have nothing to fear except their arguments. They are also very open to discussions with reappraisers. SF is not an echo chamber like most reappraiser blogs out there, such as Father Jake Stops the Word.

Re: obsessing, note what AQuinalt points out above from the interview: Akinola (& other Orthodox) see the issue of high level homosexual leadership in the church as a *symtom* of ECUSAs new approach (making up the rules as they go along), with total disregard for the written revelation from God in Scripture (except in the narrowing areas where it overlaps with their agenda). Unfortunately the press has focused on the gay issue because it produces a more sensational sound bite.
