  • Excellent Display of Talent! good work fellas

  • Suplex=bad sportmanship, easily can break your spine

  • i would rather watch san shou then mma anyday although i would rather learn mma because mma is san shou plus more

  • Skills.

  • if u could knee or elbow to the face i am sure it would be harder to do all fthen take downs. an flips

  • pro san shou has knees...

  • San Shou is badass.

  • if only that cam dude wouldnt stand directly behind the referee i would be happy^^

  • I love san shou! The takedowns, the constant push-forward-pace, the wicked combinations..it's even more exciting than K1 in some ways=)

  • most exciting fightin sport i believe :)

nd more eh "healthier" den mma or boxin :)

  • So many grappling styles promoter on every striking MA videos...

My opinion, ground is only important when some 1 decide to lay on u when u down (u see alot in UFC,MMA), instead of kicking or stomping ur head, body, groin when u r down...

  • I really respect this style and hope to practice it one day after getting my black belt BJJ that I've been training in for over 5 years. However, on the ground you should give the jiujitsu respect too because it's much harder than it looks on tv.

  • sanshou>MMA

  • not really

  • agreed, definitely impressive standup wise though.

  • ha.. yah, because in MMA you get stood up as soon as you hit the ground. this tournament is not comparable to mma, compare it to something diff

  • yes.

  • my thhinking like always is the more you know the better you can defend and protect your self. I feel ground or not should know and train as if it is the place you need to work, or when you get there you will be beaten

  • OMG, every MA vids i saw there is gonna be some 1 promoting his style...

    Especially the grappling styles...

Oh, sanshou can do ground also, watch:

    watch?v=2U4u83qoPX8

  • I can not wait to learn sanshou. Too bad for now it's strictly forms for me. It doesn't help that at my school I'd either be fighting 11 year olds or 40 year olds.

  • I was 35 yrs old when i did this demo fight with Albert!! I will be 40 very soon and i am still fighting!!

  • that's cool, how long have you been fighting?

  • Started Sanshou in 1999, been at it ever since. I have 38 fights total. I have fought in China (2 x's), Vietnam, and Japan (shootboxing). Greatest fight sport there is (in my opinion). I love MMA however i think Sanshou is a great transition sport into MMA

    Duncan

  • Was it prearranged or a real fight?

  • Sorry. i see it wasn't.

  • as for san shou and mma...

i really enjoy san shou kickboxing, as opposed to the fact that i don't enjoy ufc or anything of that sort. san shou is more dynamic and alot faster. the slams and strikes are awesome and lifting. as for these guys, i feel they both showed great technique and skill. i applaud both of them for such a skillful and enjoyable match!

  • cont.

but note that is just one guy. however, if you have the speed, a good fighter can take down/ throw multiple people away. as for the strikes, they are deadly, just like any other kick/punch in martial arts. included with elbows and knees, that is a deadly combo. so altogether, in MY OPINION, based on MY beleifs, san shou is truly an art of combat. if one masters it's techniques, i think he can be not only great in martial arts sports, but a deadly fighter as well. remember, MY OPINIONS!

  • if you agree with me, thumbs up my comment. if not, thumbs down. please be respectful though. by the way, impressive fight!

in my OPINION, sanshou is full combat sport. why? it teaches takedown techniques as well as ways to prevent takedowns. when a grappler comes for you, he will try to take you down first. san shou preety much prepares you for that, so you can prevent it. disagree?

what about multiple opponents? grappling allows you to beat up any guy on the ground.

  • what a great fight. thanks for uploading.

to all who say its not complete fighting style: there is no complete fighting style. there would be too many dead people.

and dont talk about krav maga or systema or maybe you believe in jeet kune do or something . where are you gonna practice this stuff? in the gym? take two eyes out every week? kick five pairs of balls every day?

krav maga is great. but the practitioners are either soldiers or jerk offs

  • thanx for both fighters, nice styl i'm impressed. by the way the camera man talk too much :)

  • (kungfu) Gong Fu means "great skill". Wushu is almost the literal chinese translation of Martial arts. Both are umbrella term for all the chinese systems. However, WUSHU is most often applied to the point based form competitons.

  • nice video. sanda is a very complete fighting system

  • Thing is there is no ground fighting. So it is not complete but very nice and good for sure.

  • sanda is more complete of a lot of ring sports.

  • just saying they are but they lack the ground fighting also

  • it's true they lack the grung fighting, but sanshou is more complete of boxe, kickboxing, thai boxe...

  • I know my friends and very good stand up and stuff and with what your doing in this is very good take downs... but then work my friends on your ground fighting also to be complete art k

  • in real fight, you don't need to go ground. when you see ground fighting in MMA or else, there is no heavy head blow. in san shou, where heavy head attack is allowed, when you fall to ground, you lose....becoz your oppoent can easily attack your head if fighting goes on

  • en chile tambien habemos locos que hacen Sanda o San Shou

  • sanshou is shaolin

  • I can tell ya every move as they go and im not in Sanshou nice for sure here you go.

one did side kick to front kick other cought him did sup on him. Got up other one cought a kick, that was tree house then front trip.

then Front kick both then one guy punched then got thrown in a head and arm. Then a low kick to head and arm again. then two High kicks then he was stuffed to ground. Rev got in the way but then belly to belly. side kick side kick, hook. Few punches guy tryed to take a leg def

  • I watched It all and alot of kicks, punches, and wrestling. As you all see if you have good timming you can take down a high kick and you can also catch them and take them down.

This is all nice take downs but they stop ya on the ground. nice throws but they stop you on the ground. Throws from Judo or Wrestling understanding and take downs.

Sanshou is Wrestling, Judo, @ stand up.

  • no on the ground stuff

  • Looks like Wrestling with Kicking and punching to me Hapkido?

Everytime somone kicks high kicks they are easy to catch and then throw them. You notice that many times they close the gap and are able to sup or throw them in ways or just take them down, this is a perfict example of a fight if no mat they would have no sups but very nice look for sure.

  • Sanshou

  • GREAT ACTION!

  • well good fighter!!

  • wow German suplex

  • how did taht dude not break his kneck!

  • both these guys shows very nice technique, i learn many from them

  • San Shouis one of my top fav MA

if i was not taking tkd or judo i would be taking this

is this kung fu or Wushu

  • if u had to pick one its closer to kung fu than wushu, since wushu is pretty much dancing

  • wushu is a TYPE of kung fu....this is sanshou...normally taught along side with wushu. It's a suppose to be modern day kung fu where the different kung fu systems are combined.

  • In China Wushu is actually the more common term for Kung Fu. I think they use the term Kung Fu more in Shanghai etc?

  • Why don't you train in San Shou! With your Judo experience, you might excel... plus, you got the kicks covered.

I say, you only live once, try somthing new and exciting before its too late.

    good luck.

  • i would if there any in my area maybe when i go to collages are there any in philly

  • dont know itll say on wikipedia

  • They have crazy slams, alot of them look like they come from a wrestling/judo background... this stuff is awesome

  • Looks like tekken for real life lol!!!!

  • ...i must find a sanda school O.O I am in love with the side kicks and huge takedowns.

  • WHAT???

  • The German suplex is damned impressive, but there are two things to remember: 1) This is an exhibition match, so things like that are a lot easier to perform, and 2) the suplex would only gain a point, maybe 2, in actual competition, rather than a higher score, simply because the stylist hits the ground as well. Very awesome movement, nonetheless.

  • from what i have seen, sanshou is like karate+judo+wrestling in a same container. Those are not "sanshou takedowns". This guy did exaclty a judo harai goshi, and they both did authentic wretling suplexes.

  • many styles share common techniques. San Shou training teaches all the throws exhibited here. The classic san shou takedown is the leg-catch/leg-sweep.

  • interesting, really. leg catch/leg-sweep, as you call it is also from judo, kuchiki taoshi, or something like that.

  • great throwing skill~~

  • First thing... GERMAN SUPLEX! Holy shit this is amazing.

  • those take downs are phenomenal

  • Freaking amazing, I'm definitely inspired to learn more about san shou...he actually SUPLEXED HIM!!! How did he manage to get up so quickly...

  • sanshou is like a combination of muay thai and judo.

  • haha consider Chinese Martial Art is older than both Mauy Thai and Judo... i believe mauy thai and judo are the adaptations of sanshou =)

  • actualy the traditional form of muay thai ,muay boran,is actually over 2000 years

  • sanshou wasn't around back then. it was developed by KMT in the 20's to train their troops by studying martial arts in china.

  • WOW Wonderful German suplex

  • How old are these boys? theyre very good by the way

    .

  • very nice

  • Mandarin and Cantonese are the most popular chinese dialects.

  • very very good technics i like this fight

  • suplex'd 2 deth

  • K, people from hongkong please stop spreak ignorance to foreign cantonese is language cuz it's just simply stupid

  • If you consider Cantonese language then you have to consider all provicial regional dialect as language , there probably only 5 main aboriginal consider as main language, Han, Mongol,Uyger,Tibetan and Zhuang in China.

  • Han people speak differently everywhere. In Xianggang, they even use different characters, because the Guangdong dialect is so different to putonghua and it might not make sense. Tell me this - could a person from Beijing understand a person from Guangdong without writing it down? No. A person from either place probably would have great difficulty understanding Sichuanren with their thick accents. It's an ambiguous situation, because they are neither languages nor dialects.

  • Hey, blackjamm. Can you tell me anything about the Hokkien language? I am chinese hokkien but i never studied chinese history.

  • Stop put Cantonese infront Mandrain, because Mandrain is Official common speaking represent China not Cantonese

  • China has 56 aboriginal includs han people, Cantonese are not consider as language because it has no writing form it's dialect. Chinese writing in complex or simple form are came from Qin dynasty 5000years ago

  • cantonese is dialect from Haka dialect

  • No, Hakka is a different from Cantonese - kejia and yue peoples. Cantonese is frequently written differently to mandarin as well - please find an informal piece of Hong Kong writing and you'll see what I mean, a comic book or something like that. Quote from "Basic Cantonese": "...written Cantonese is hardly used for serious purposes... many Cantonese words lack established characters." Cantonese may be considered almost a separate language entirely.

  • Mandarin are not fucking dialect, it's originated from Qin period 5000 years ago

  • No, Mandarin did not originate in the Qin, which itself was not 5000 years ago, but about 2,200. Not even classical Chinese originated in the Qin - it is much older, and has changed quite a bit since. Mandarin was guanhua, the language of the court from the Ming onwards, and it developed into putonghua in the 20th century with writer advocates like Lu Xun. I understand that you are still young, but take time to learn the history of your language, because it is very interesting.

  • TKD<Muaithai<Shanshou

China pwns Thailand pwns Korea pwns Japan

  • Congratulations for looking like another idiot on the internet. No country "pwns" another country--that's how we went to war back then; ever learned that in your history class?

  • Nice.

  • That suplex at the start was bitchen.

  • very good!

  • Great stuff. Where do you guys train out of?

  • I started in Grand Rapids Michigan, moved to San Jose CA to train with Cung Le and the USH fight team from 2004 to 2006 and now i train / teach at Rudi Ott's gym in milpitas CA. Albert Pope is out of Boston Mass. and trained under Marvin Perry and Boston Sanshou Duncan

  • Good figthers, very good.

  • that was great. awesome fight

  • very good fight. both fighters kicked ass

  • Super show of San Shou being applied! Looks like one of the only effective/practical styles of Kung Fu - Great video! Got more?

  • San shou is derived from traditional Kung Fu. The major difference is that Sanshou focuses on the ring where people have to fight and thus others can see how it works easily and bad schools/instructors get screened off quickly. Within China, Sanshou is often considered as a sports rather than for real fighting. Traditional KungFu is still considered effective for fighting. As a matter of fact, in China many provincial Sanshou champions still got defeated by traditional KF practitioner.

  • "As a matter of fact, in China many provincial Sanshou champions still got defeated by traditional KF practitioner"

I would like to see that - Do you have any evidence of this?

  • Can you read & write chinese? If yes, go to all those martial arts forum in China and ask the people there.

  • LOL - Considering there is no such language as "Chinese" (Chinese people speak Mandarin or Cantonese) I seriously doubt you can read or write Chinese yourself... And are you trying to say that nobody in China has a movie camera? That is just ignorant. Besides, "I would like to SEE that" means with my eyes...

  • Chinese is a language, Cantonese and Mandarin are dialects. One reads and writes Chinese, while they speak Cantonese or Mandarin.

  • That was a fairly ignorant comment. I appreciate the "see with your own eyes" thing, perfectly in accordance there, but there IS a Chinese language, and it is a written language interpreted in different dialects differently. Hakkas, Hoklos, Cantonese, Beijingers, etc, all speak differently, but they read (mostly) the same stuff - or at least, they are taught to read modern standard texts. I assume you don't speak any Chinese dialect...?

  • when and how

  • awesome fight!

  • Thank you....much appreciated!! Duncan
