Ah the perils of all the leftist language in this little ditty...were I only not so easily swayed by *gasp* endless campaign advertising, I too could be a "responsible" voter. Really?
Traditionally people earn my trust by not burning me and following through on their promises. I do not need to be "scared" but sometimes the realities of comparison should not be discounted. I will not sacrifice my beliefs at the expense of other peoples' lack of ability to correctly judge political motives.
Clearly you're one of the exceptions to the rule as it appears that there are many more amongst us who don't operate on the same platform as yourself and not easily swayed by suggestive advertising. If it wasn't so successful, there wouldn't be so much money invested into it.
I won't sacrifice my beliefs either, but I'm also capable of realizing upon presentation of clear, concise and irrefutable proof that they were wrongly held and am capabe of change when done so in that manner.
Maybe. I did vote Democrat this last election and they've pretty much all disappointed me. To succumb to apathy is tempting but also hope for better then this.
@RadarKat, Its not apathy for me. Voting is an act of violence against others and supports the barbaric democratic process, which i dont support. truth about voting: watch?v=igbBItLemsM
That's kind of a cop-out, don't you think? It's not the process itself that's flawed as a concept, but the people themselves who are administering it. What do you propose as a fair process that gives a voices an opportunity to express their wishes or should we just self-govern ourselves?
Govern ourselves through voluntary interaction? what an outlandish idea! what would we do with no territorial monopolist of ultimate decision making that steals, murders, starts wars, de-civilizes the society? *sarcasm*
you want a strong voice in how your life is lived? then why would you want to vote for a politician to control your life?
Whether you'd like to realize it or not, every "civilization" has had some sort of structure in order to maintain order and keep chaos from being the order of the day. Once again, it's not the process, but the flawed men behind it.
I've never voted for anyone to control my life and that isn't how this republic was created to be. Again, what would be your solution as to how best maintain order and ensure that we don't become the equivalent of the Towel of Babel?
Big points for this snag. I've become a sub and will be looking to see if she has ever spoke before TED of TEDtalks. If not, she belongs there. Gonna be watching the Tea Party coverage on CSPAN tomorrow -you?
Instead of giving into apathy, why can't YOU become the voice of the leadership you feel the country needs to hear? Your method only ensures that this will only continue and guarantees more of the same, as there will be those who will quicky step up to replace those whom you remove and they' be cut from the exact same cloth.
@wildpeach, voting has only encouraged more of the same. voting is dehumanizing, immoral and counter productive to my political goals. truth about voting: watch?v=igbBItLemsM
I'll have to take a look later and appreciate the link, but I've got to admit that I'm not too enthusiastic at what it is you do find your political goal to actually be. I certainly don't share your view, but willing to respect it.
@classicallady, state democracy is a barbarism and immoral. i choose not to take part in a barbaric system that has people coercively imposes their beliefs on others. you are a tyrant and a barbarian if you vote and support state democracy.
I am an European who votes for the party I chose. That can hardly be described by barbarian...Barbarians did not believe in respect of other ppl's property rights neither/or intellectual and civil liberties.I am appalled that you, being a Canadian can pahntom anything as miscostrues like that. My family live in Canada and I am a constant visitor.Or perhaps you can go back and dig deeper into history to get the real meaning of barbarians
democracy doesnt respect property rights or individual rights. taxes and regulations on property usage are a violation of property rights. also, the government does very little to protect individual rights but they do a lot to get rid of them. the government spys on us without warrants, limit free speech, detains people without due process, takes away gun rights, and basically controls/regulates almost every aspect of our lives. Democracy=barbarism.
Despite what you say, hating the state does not preclude voting. By not voting, you lose one of the very few tools you have to sabotage the state. I suggest you consider casting votes for "protest candidates" or write-in candidates. Or just write "Homer Simpson" on the line.
Regarding democracy in general, you seem to be conflating it with statism, which is simply incorrect. Democracy is "rule by the people" -- which need not occur on a large scale.
One can make a solid argument that private property rights are the root of all inequity in the modern world. My understanding is that the Enclosure Act paved the way for capitalism.
private property built civilization. without private property there can be no rational economic calculation, thus a market does not exist. and without a market were all basically dying on the streets.
@substan, do you understand what private property is? do you understand what a market is? i dont think you do. do you know what the soviets, mao's china, and the russian revolution did? they tried to take away all private property and eliminate the market by giving the state control over resources. what resulted? millions of people dying.
" One cannot sew a new patch on an old garmet." The whole system needs an overhaul! The Supreme Court basically made voting moot by allowing big business to spend as much as it wants!
The Matrix? Y'know, I would be surprised if this is the way the world really is. If we're all in some giant simulation, that wouldn't shock me in the least.
@RadarKat73080 that is the deeper message of the Matrix. Watch it again but think of the Matrix as the economy or as our social culture.
We are hooked into it and its all we can perceive. We'll never be free human beings until we can move beyond it. Can't even imagine there is a beyond it.

If leadership is force against peaceful people, then yes, ethical leadership is an oxymoron.
The right promotes fear of terrorism and xenophobia in order to get elected.
The left promotes fear of climate change and envy of the rich to get elected.
