@TheCitygurl96 We can dye our hair with no problem, and some people do dye theirs often. We are physically unable to tan because we do not have pigment in our skin to tan. However, some people use self tanner or get a spray tan, which works for the people that want a tan look!

@IRISistibleMakeup We just don't see things in as much detail. It is not blurry and we do not only see things that are really light or really dark. Albinism does not cause color blindness or anything like that. For example, if we are looking at someone's face at a comfortable distance from one another, we can see that they have eyes but we could not tell you any details about them such as the color. I hope that this makes a little more sense! It's complicated to explain!
I always get tested for colour blindness, but the doctors never found anything. Do you guys use the max TV glasses at all? I can see clearly with further with them, so am just hoping they will let me use it when I go into to do my eye exam for driving.

@Rhyli1990 I have albinism and I've never heard of color blindness being associated with it. I don't know why it would be. Also, there is one form of albinism where people bruise easily (Hermonsky-Podlak (sp?)), but most of us bruise the same as everyone else.

@SharmyyBarmyy Not necessarily. Both parents have to be carriers of the gene for you to have a 1 in 4 chance of getting the condition. Even people classified as white have some pigment and can tan their skin but people with albinism have no pigment at all. Just clarifying. oh and I don't have albinism I've just read a ton of literature about it. I also have a friend with the condition. She is really cool.
I get what your saying about the albino term. It's like asking someone if they are Chinese when they are actually Vietnamese, Thai or Japanese. It's just rude to presume something about someone that may not be true...such as assuming someone is pregnant when she simply has a pudgy belly or assuming a bald person has cancer/chemo just because he/she is bald.

I'm surprised that I fall into the bracket of how blind people with albinism are... I'm 20/300 and I don't have albinism. But it's not a light thing... for me it's just super blurry and I've got astigmatism... I can relate to not being able to see... I correct my vision with glasses so I've never been classified as legally blind, even though I'm pretty sure I'm well past that point, hah. Great video, very informative!
I was greatly informed by your video. I think your skin tone is beautiful, I have only seen one person with the condition in my lifetime. I feel greatly informed about the eyesight issue. And I feel fortunate to have seen this video to be familiar with the symptoms. the thing is that when a animal has albinism they do not reproduce because they are seen as not the same as its counter partner so they do not FIND A mate!! are animal raciest ??? now when people have albinism some time they still mate with there counter partner or come in to contact with a counter partner with albinism so in my opinion we humans learn from the animals so on this one i think they know best if we did that there would be no white people FACT !!

Yes people, newsflash, some of us with albinism DO dye our eyebrows and/or hair. Asking "how can she be" with dark brows is like someone saying, "How can someone be black if she dyes her hair blonde?" Does that change the fact the person is black? I have albinism & dye my hair, brows and--wait for it--lashes sometime too. Funny, the lack of logic some have.

Its like: Duh, I didn't go color blind, so how would I be able to compare it to not being color blind.

@ShannR414 They have Nystagmus, which is involuntary movement of the eye. It's one of the eye conditions associated with albinism.

People think I'm an albino because I have blue eyes and really light skin... It was also very prominent when I had my hair bleached. ._.

because you both are Caucasian it would be very easy for you guys to hide it. all you need to do is wear hair dye eyebrow dye and eyelash dye and then know one would be able to tell cuz iv seen some one do it before.

@Samuel115s Why are so you offended by the looks of people with albinism? You're obsessed, really, going to all these different videos and telling us to "cover up" our looks. It's people like you that make life hard for anyone with the slightest difference growing up. Maybe you'll grow up someday and realize that differences are what make people beautiful. Only immature people think everyone should be cookie-cutter look-alikes of everyone else. And anyone with decent taste knows we're pretty.

@itsmeChi78 im not offended by how any one looks all i was tying to do was give suggestions cuz some albinos say they get teased and people make fun of them so i was saying if they want the teasing to stop they could do them thing to hide it like how the Caucasian woman on the tyra banks show did. i dont have a problem with the appearance of anyone who cant help the way they look but their are other people who do like how that guy on the show got stabbed so thats why i was giving the suggestions

Yes people, newsflash, some of us with albinism DO dye our eyebrows and/or hair. Asking "how can she be" with dark brows is like someone saying, "How can someone be black if she dyes her hair blonde?" Does that change the fact the person is black? I have albinism & dye my hair, brows and--wait for it--lashes sometime too. Funny, the lack of logic some have.

@fudgecake76 Well they stated it, like there was no way or that she was lying or something. Lots of people wear make-up too. It's just pretty stupid of them to assume there was no way she could have albinism and have darker brows. Lots of people use make-up and hair dye no matter their coloring.

@itsmeChi78 They weren't assuming anything. They didn't say "Oh she has dark eyebrows. She's not albino." I asked myself the same question. It doesn't mean that they were accusing her of lying. They just wanted an explanation as to why they were brown.
