on a dry (hair spray) set, usually a half hour or so, or on a wet set, sleep overnight.

of course, and paper bags, strips of cloth... the possiblilites are limited only by your imagination.

I don't see why not, you probably have to get a few extra folds so it won't tear. There's no limit to the things you can use to curl your hair. I travel a lot and don't ever carry curlers or an iron anymore.
