Im a 16 yrs. old teenager from the Philippines.... I have CKD or chronic kidney disease secondary to CGN or chronic Glomerulonephritis...... Im taking a treatment called Hemo dialysis..its been 6 months now in November 26 2011...its so hard but you have to use to it...Im taking hemo dialysis 2 times a week every wednesday and Saturday...And its hard to dialysis here in Philippines because you have to own moneys to take a session which we don't have coz' we are one of the Filipino's poor people
I'm a 15 year old sophmore, who already has a hugely long list of medical problems, including depression and athsma. I just got diagnosed with kidney disease. I'm so scared.
@XxGreenieTheGeekxX dont worry im 15. about to be 16 in 3 months. and i was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease in january 2011. i am now on peritoneal dialysis. and it is not that bad once you get use to it. hopefully me and you will get a kidney transplant soon. and one more thing. dont hold in you emotions. if you need to cry. just let it out. i held my emotions for almost a year. and for 3 weeks i would cry non stop every night when i had to do dialysis.
I have stage 5 CKD.. trying alternative forms of treatment such as REIKI and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).. Initial tests show promising results.. my blood creatinine level is down from 6.0 to 5.1 in just 2 months....
I"m currently at stage 3. I had a kidney transplant at 7 which has lasted for 20 years. Its kind of weird having a disease that can't be cured. The hard part is having to explain it to people. It can be difficult at times.
I do have an optimistic look at this. The way I see it " I didn't choose this, it chose me."
im 12 years old and i found out that i had it on christmas day it all started of with my eye going bad and that was due to pressure so i had to have a lumber puncturre to realese the pressure from my head and i found out that way
I am 28 have stage 5 kidney disease am getting a transplant next month. I just started a vlog on my youtube channel for info for my friends and family and the world that doesnt understand this issue. I also take on a comedic approach to this and life, hope you appreciate it:P take care all and good luck, it could always have been worse thats what I tell myself:P
@jeffmcguire2003 Hi Jeff. I am also 24 years old at stage 4 as well. I am terrified about all this. Would you like to discuss our problems? Contact me.
I was Stage 3/4 when I found out I had kidney disease. It took 3 years to reach Stage 5. I then went on APD for 2 1/2 years, then switched to haemo for 2 years. I had a transplant in June. I have had the best of both worlds in terms of dialysis.
hmmmm stay over night in hospital. Wen i was diagnosed i was in for three weeks. Altho i had a eGFR of 10. I have been on dialysis for two years almost and i hate every minute of it but who likes it?
I've been on hemo dialysis 2x and I'm on my second kidney transplant. I am susceptible to infections so both times I chose hemo. I understand the diet sucks! Just try like the dickens to NOT think about what you can't have. It really does no service to all you have to contend with. Just think how bad the diet would be if you were diabetic? Anyway find things to make you laugh as often as you can! Very Very important!
i hear ya. I am on the stage 5..i recently got my fistula done on my left wrist and once this is heal (takes up to 6 weeks) once is healed then i will start Dialysis 3x a week for 4 hours. scared? I am pretty much but looking foward to it because i know i will feel much better though the thing i complain the most is the food diet. It sucks! no salt in my foods and no pizza (i love cheese) not having it makes me sad
Have you been given the option of PD (peritoneal dialysis)?
I have been on that for over a year now, I don't think I could face haemo, I'm not good with needles and blood and things. Also I don't have to restrict my diet very much, it's well worth looking into, trust me! Good luck x
