Grew up in this area and always loved the idea of lake Ronkonkoma being haunted. Ate some mushrooms a few months back with a bunch of old friends and hung out there, lotta strange shit happened but cant attribute that to a curse!!!!!!!

i have made a research of this last two years ago, ever since i saw this on the magazine. i cant seem to find the graph depths of this lake again. anyway, i am still fascinated of this lake, and if someday i will travel again, i hope i can visit this lake. i hope discovery channel or national geo will try to document and study this, like what they did to scout land's lake when they were looking for Loch Ness monster. i been telling some of my friends this tale. & they seem fascinated as well.

Funny how the drownings stopped around the same time that people stopped going to the lake. He said 2000 people were in the water. Ive havent seen more than a hundred people swimming in the lake at once since about 2001, when the drownings magically stopped . Maybe the lady of the lake got lazy. Or maybe people are just idiots.

@KennyPowers101 yeah, I live in Massachusetts and there's a legend that some lake nearby in Medford is bottomless. They say a tractor fell in (a tractor, of all things) and it supposedly never hit the bottom, it just keeps falling. It scared me when I was about 4 years old. Looking back, it's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard!

Wow, do they ham this up. There are a lot of scientific facts and statistics that easily explain why a lot of the stuff surrounding the curse happen. There are also versions of the legend that are different from the one they tell here, including ones that change the location of the tribe the princess is from and the race of her lover. I'm not going to utterly throw out the possibility of the curse; I've been hearing it since I was a kid myself. Still, I'm not going to ignore facts, either.

I built a little log fort on this Lake and slept there a lot .

This lake is checked every morning for pollutants and waste . The only real problem they ever have is with the Geese Poo . I've also swam across this Lake my whole life and never had a problem . This weekend there is a big foot race around it .I LOVE THIS LAKE !!!!

You guys need to check out the similar curse we have here in Maine's Saco River. 3 people drown a year in it. Historically, an indian princess's baby was drowned in the river by three english sailors. The chief cursed the river that 3 whites will drown in it every year untill Biddeford/Saco cities are given back to the tribe.

I remember swimming it Lake Ronkonkoma about 30 years ago and there were amazing hot spots where the water temperature by your feet only was very hot. There would appear to be little whirl pools. You can feel the water swishing around you, but it wasn't that strong. It also felt as though there were undertoes. That lake scared me, but it didn't stop us from walking across it when it froze over in the winter. Nonetheless, GREAT VIDEO. I remember Dave the head lifeguard.
