@dooploop1 really? Only squall was Emo. all the rest really weren't. Zell= annoying tough dumb but good hearted. Selphie=spunky one, Quistis= Hot teacher, Rinoa=One you have to save all the time but has the strongest magic rating, Irvine=Cool but secretly insecure guy, Seifer=Asshole, Laguna= Squalls dad and polar opposite emotionally, Kiros= Gay guy, Ward=Fat strong dude.
@BBoyPhreshershist yea i know right? like the rest of the characters having different traits, i feel like squall's trait was serious not emo. makes it so everybody is different.
@dooploop1 and even still it gets explained why Squall is the way he is and he changes. I don't think its ever explained why cloud is Emo. but neither one is better than the other imo
@seany018 Draw system is the major drawback. However any player who knows how to play the game in a fun manner uses card mod and triple triad! So if you've never played. Don't draw your magic up until you get to the end of disc 2 and get the Tonberry GF. Just play a hellish amount of triple triad. And enjoy this beautiful game.
@MrSolracvstheWorld What a stupid fucking comment. Obviously you weren't considering how you were saying this ON a video of a track from FF8, a game that, might I add, sold over 8,000,000 copies.
Stop using crappy reverse-psychology and earn your top comment, you inbred cunt.
i loved the gameplay, music and style of this game so much that i had to forgive it's absurdness. thankfully, IX, X, XII, and XIII have redeemed it somewhat with their great plots.
This was my first ff game I've ever played. And while the story is indeed ridiculous, I have a soft spot for this game and it will always be one of my favorite.
This is a good peace and all.........but it just conflicts with the sci-fi nature of the rest of the soundtrack. But I guess it captures Balamb perfectly. Not the greatest music on the FF VIII sountrack but a fine Uematsu piece, none the less.
I would have to agree. For the sole reason of the story being rather bland, this is my least favorite FF game. I also felt like the character development outside of Squall and Rinoa (god I hate them both) was nonexistent. Why couldn't they spend more time on Quistis?
I like this song as well, so I started instantly playing it on my ukulele right at the moment I found the lyrics. From the little amount of songs and notes I can play, this truely makes fun.
I think there are some people who didn't like FF8 as a game, but do you think there are as many who don't like its music? Unimaginable to me.
Breezy was my favorite track out of the entire game. I would keep the game running at night just outside the inn so I could hear it with the sounds of the sea in the background and gently fall into the best sleep I've had to this day.
FF8 was a bit of a shock to me honestly, FF4,6,7, were fantastic. Then 8 came out and it had great graphics, the music was *fantastic*, eyes on me is still one of my favorite songs.
But man... the story was horrible. I don't even remember it completely, you started in a military academy of some sort, there was a war i think, some kind of resistance movement that didn't matter, and a witch. And then you were in space.
@entelin hahahaha ! true at some point but u have to realise u are in a surreal environment of science fiction. It doesnt matter where u end up as long as it has a logical sequence.
@entelin The story wasn't that horrible. I think it could have been much better (the character development wasn't great), but the basis was ok. Bunch of high school age kids at a military academy training to be part of a mercenary force stop a time traveling witch who's possessing another witch from possessing another witch by fighting the country she's taken over along with a slew of extraterrestrial monsters brought to the planet from the moon while all the while having flashbacks. No sweat.
@entelin lol FF8 was the reason I skipped IX. I was 12 when I played this game and even then I thought the story was a bit corny. The plot was messed up and the characters were ignored...I just had no attachment to this game, but the music was good though I actually hated eyes on me!
@entelin: haha. You are lost because of doing side quest too much that you don't even remember the main story. I don't remember exactly either. It seems like it's about time to replay the game again for me :D
@entelin I think it had potential, until the end of CD 2. Then things started taking a turn for the worst, and then it just looked like they rushed the ending. I think it was supposed to be more than that. maybe they run out of money, or ideas, I dunno.
@entelin That's what makes this game so frustrating. Technically, this game could be considered great, but if you look closely, it had a terrible story and awful combat.
About time this got added, not that I have any problem with your taste, SupraDarky.
I have this song on my iPod - it is strikingly similar to Another Guldove from Chrono Cross. Last summer I listened to this song while sitting on my porch during a thunderstorm, it such a mesmerizing experience, such a beautiful song.....
This was a very good song. Final Fantasy VIII had a wealth of great music. It's a shame that, at least for me, the story and gameplay seemed to fizzle after disc 1.
I remember when i first heard this song i completely stopped playing just to hear the music, put the controller down, and laid down on the bed till i fell asleep. :)ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Great add. It definitely gives the feeling of a peaceful sea side town. The clear blue sea rolling into the bay, the fresh salt air and the hustle and bustle of town. Great stuff.
This was one of the game's more peaceful and memorable song, I remember being amazed by the town's graphics with the blurry effect on the plants right in front. Now I wouldn't even think about it.
So true. Technology and improvement nowadays have changed so much and is still changing more that the "normal" and the "great" have increased its standards.
@SupraDarky well there was something fascinating about this game... I just loved the character of the game world... after the cartoony FFVII I liked how FFVIII felt more "mature" (or at least mature as a FF can get)
@SupraDarky The great things about ff7 and 8 were the way the towns were designed with their depth of perceptions and color schemes. Because of this each town had their own unique depth of field as well as the great architectural imagination
@SupraDarky ya. i remember playing this game and being amazed at the graphics. now it seems horrible and very contrived as well, but man, i remember this game. definitely do. it is a good very very good game.
my very first final fantasy game (except mystic quest) the memories!!!!!
