Times when people appreciated little good things in life and didn't whine for small things, like people do now. Back then, people worked hard and grew to a tough people. Todays kids are probably sissy, whining and weak when they grow up. Te best movies, best music, best vehicles, best fashion, best furniture and best people were in the old times, like in the 60's. Only thing I want is a time machine, so I could go back to the old times. Too bad I born in 90's :(

I thought this might be the reason, rugreb83, but there's still something wrong. Look at all those people, especially children. If it's midnight shouldn't they be sleeping in their beds? Everybody seems to be performing daytime activities: people walk the streets, drive cars, ride bicycles and horse-ride. Quite odd for the middle of the night even if it's a bright night. I'd rather expect the city to be less crowded at midnight.
This was a special occasion so people allowed their kids to stay up late, foreign digintaries being something of a novely a tthe time, but it is only a small part of the film, but if you go to modern Iceland during the summer weekends you would be surprised ....
@13craj There are more places on the northern hemisphere than Alaska, but the song the Land of the midnight sun refers to Iceland. But Alaska, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland and parts of Russia all have midnight sun during the summers due to their placement on the globe.

In one year when they celebrate that they graduated one year ago they take of the white cloth on the cap and under it is a black cloth. then in every 5 years they celebrate their graduation with their black cap :D ( I really hope you understand this :D )

there is no 24 hours sun in reykjavik. because iceland is south of the polar circle. norway ist the land of midnightsun. the sun is gone for a liitle bit more than 3 hours in reykjavik,in the summer. only the icelandic island grimsey is north of the polar circle....

Scandinavia[1] is a region in northern Europe that includes at a minimum Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. Finland is often considered a Scandinavian country in common English usage, and Iceland and the Faroe Islands are sometimes also included.
Women and men are different, and you don't shit on your own rights to put another sex ahead of you.
Founding something is about making settlements, colonials, and settling the land. The vikings weren't equipped for such a thing. Overrated.

@Markohoppis Finland is not often considered as a part of scandinavia (just some times because some parts of Finland was once owned by Sweden.) and iceland (once owned by Norway) almost never considered a part of scandinavia but the faroe islands (færø øyene still owned by Denmark) are quite often considered a part of Scandinavia. you still know way to little about Scandinavia to talk about it like this.

I thought this might be the reason, rugreb83, but there's still something wrong. Look at all those people, especially children. If it's midnight shouldn't they be sleeping in their beds? Everybody seems to be performing daytime activities: people walk the streets, drive cars, ride bicycles and horse-ride. Quite odd for the middle of the night even if it's a bright night. I'd rather expect the city to be less crowded at midnight.

@13craj There are more places on the northern hemisphere than Alaska, but the song the Land of the midnight sun refers to Iceland. But Alaska, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland and parts of Russia all have midnight sun during the summers due to their placement on the globe.

In one year when they celebrate that they graduated one year ago they take of the white cloth on the cap and under it is a black cloth. then in every 5 years they celebrate their graduation with their black cap :D ( I really hope you understand this :D )
