  • You Sir, are good.

    Thanks for posting.

  • @Drizzt567 They strings sound is coming from the Verbzilla pedal.

  • This is fricking awesome.

  • We see their tears.... in the rainfall . Beautiful

  • Totally AWESOME! This is just plain AMAZING!!!

  • Nice sound/setup.

    Verbzilla sounds great

  • WOW !!!

    Awesome cover guy !

  • Bravo!

  • The best u2 covers on youtube by a mile !

  • That sounds amazing! Nicely done!

  • Great reproduction of the original!

  • Could you tell me what the delay time is on this? I've been learning it and got the melody and shimmer down but still don't have the delay right. Great job! This sounds almost angelic.

  • again and again totally stunning, john, where do you live?

    berherbi

  • amazing, that sounds grate

  • shivering...

  • great job! all your videos!

  • good job

    i've a question for you.

is the particular guitar sound you've looped the same used in the original song? or you have simulated the original sound with this one ?

    thank you!

  • I simulated the original sound with the guitar (see from 7 - 15 seconds) and slowed it down (as you can see in the video). I have no idea what was used in the original version of the song. But that's ok as the point is to make use of what you've got.

  • The sound on the original track is actually Larry's drums. No kidding! They used a PCM 70 to achieve that effect.

  • Indeed, it was Brian Eno's idea

  • Amazing, sounds great. After seeing this I went home and spent a few hours learning to play the song, great song!. Two things I still have not figured, what is the timing of the delay you used? and what are the chords between 1:36 and 1:56 (just those 3 chords)?

  • Is that a 314ce or 514ce? Is it a good guitar? Does it have a bright sound? I'm thinking buying a Taylor but I don't know yet and with the effects I can't ear it's sound.

  • That's a 314ce-L30. (Spruce top). Nice and bright for strumming. The 514 (cedar top) would probably suit more finger style playing.

  • dude this sounds amazing.

  • haha Well it better be just as good for $6 grand! ;-)

I can't beieve Eventide hasn't put the shimmer in either the ModFactor or Timefactor both of which I have. Now the PictchFactor for another $400 is supposed to do some kind of shimmer with the Crystal effect but the demo doesn't sound too convincing that it does without adding a bunch of other weird doppling modulation effects to it.

  • Your videos sound fantastic! Where you say you add delay and shimer, is that the M13? Is there anythig on either the ModFactor or TimeFactor that can get that shimmer like on Elevation where there's the delay and then that delayed shimmer on top?

  • Delay is from the Boss DD-20 in this clip. The Shimmer comes from the Line6 Verbzilla pedal on this board. Not sure what you mean by shimmer on Elevation?

  • Sorry I didn;t mean Elevation. It was another song but forgot which but I think he uses an Eventide Eclipse to get that same sound you got with the Verbzilla! Awesome! Saves a couple grand on an Eclipse!

  • Actually The Edge uses an old AMS unit for his shimmer. The Eclipse is just as good IMHO and does more than just the Shimmer sounds.

  • what is the name of the pedal that repeat the sound????

  • The Eventide Time Factor is looping the sound that was generated from the Eventide ModFactor

  • you always nail it bruv, this sounds great but WHAT is that silver pedal i think you call it a shimmer

  • Thanks. Shimmer is coming from the Line6 Verbzilla pedal - there is an Ernie Ball Volume pedal controling its mix

  • hey bro what kind of taylor you have?

  • great stuff can u tell me what your verbzilla settings are and how did you splt the signal to the seperate amp cheers!

  • what kinda pedal is the shimmer pedal

  • great job! very inventive

  • Really cool idea. I have the modfactor also and was hoping could send me some cool settings you have found for U2 songs, including this one. I don't the timefactor, but I have the very tasty Empress Superdelay. Thanks in advance.

  • Empress Superdelay looks interesting. But with no digital readouts or bank/displays on it to follow makes it difficult to use in a live environment.

  • It has a limited display in that there are led lights that signal where you are in a preset/bank mode. I agree, the only flaw in the SD is the lack of readout display; however the delay sounds top notch. Personally never heard one better and I've heard quite a few.

  • Amazing sounds and very well played!!!

Inspiring actually!!! Can you get the eventide mod factor sound that you used in the clip on the line 6 m13? I like your your board but i'd say it was expensive to put together and the m13 is more affordable! thanks!!(this is my 1st youtube post by the way!!!)

  • You'll get all of the sound with the M13. The Modfactor is only used in this clip for the sound you hear at the beginning (which is looped).

  • Topnotch! Love your tutorials..!

  • very nice !

which pedal produces these string sounds in the background ?!

    greets from germany

  • is that a fender deville? sounds great. greetings from argentina

  • A Fender Blues Junior

  • Amazing! How did you get the shimmer effect?

  • Verbzilla pedal

  • Amazing sound!Stupefacente!
