@TexasDistortion Oh you mean like George W Bush did by doubling the national debt starting a war that has left the country billions in debt, raising taxes while giving tax break to the wealthiest Americans. Obama inherited this mess buzzard breath. And I haven't been a "hippie" in 30 years but I do have a job and I pay taxes. what about you?
@eagleswing44 hahahah typical liberal scum, blam is on bush. you right, bush rasised out debt buy sending up inbto 2 wars, BUt he didnt raise taxes, infact ifhis massive tax cuts expire this very year. So since this is all bus';s fault then obama has turned everything around and were out of debt, and the spending has stopped... oh wait. wake up shithead he is running this country into the ground and socializing everything. but wait socialism worked for greece..
@TexasDistortion You need to do some serious research on the Bush administrations 8 years pal. Don't just listen to made up stuff you here at the tea party rallies. Bush raised taxes for working Americans while giving tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans. It pays to educate one's self.
@eagleswing44 When did i say i support Bush? Never. Im against socialism and the demise of our great country. And why should the wealthy pay for the poor? They worked hard to get that money i think theve earned the right to keep it. Im not rich, yet i believe in working hard and taking care of one self with out crying like a bitch to the government for handouts. man up. and while your at it do a little research on you boy obama and his minions, they are pissing on the constitutuon.
@TexasDistortion Yeah. Why should the wealthy pay for the poor? Why should anyone have a social conscience? Why should we help those in need? Why? Why? Why?
@kingdaniel69 Why have a president or a congress or a senate or a declaration of independence or a constitution? Idiocy you speak! The wealthy do not pay for the poor. The wealthy have pillaged and robbed the poor for decades in this country. Then they have the gall to expect tax breaks. It's not the rich that keep this country moving. I'll just bet you're one of those Americans who calls yourself a Christian too. "The wealth of the wicked is laid up for the just" Proverbs 13:22.
@eagleswing44 I was being facetious earlier about why should we help others or have a social conscience, i come from a country with an amazing socialised healthcare system where you if you are sick you don't need any money we have a great welfare state too.
I am not a Christian but i help others, those less fortunate than me, i am a nurse and very proud.
You have got a hard job convincing Americans to be anything else but selfish, they'll think you are a communist! Keep up the good work.
@kingdaniel69 My apologies to you and may you be blessed for the good work you do. It's so unfortunately that there are so few out there like you. You are so right although most Americans have little clue as to what communism is let alone why they are using the word. Sickness and suffering has become a comodity in this nation and people continue to fall for the hype.
@nolano2010 Obama is doing what he was elected to do. He helped to enact reforms such as the Healthcare bill so 43 million working Americans can recieve healthcare. He is working for the people of this nation and not just providing tax breaks and incentives for the wealthiest Americans and coporate thieves like former president Bush did! Just sayin!
@eagleswing44 Oh that's right. He's taking the tax breaks away from the wealthy and raising taxes for everyone. My bad. You're right. Totally forgot about having to pay for everyone else's healthcare.
And he wasn't elected because of his ability to enact reforms. I highly doubt the entire 96-97% of African-Americans that voted for him actually care about reforms. This election was about race.
@nolano2010 If you'd stop and use your brain for a split second you will realise that African Americans make up roughly 13% of the US population. Although most of us voted for him I highly doubt African Americans elected Barack Obama. The Bush Administration got Barack Obama elected by putting the wealthy first and thumbing it's nose at the middle class. They also started wars that will go down in history as senseless hysteria based on lies and deception. Thanks for ending it Mr President!
@eagleswing44 But that is another issue, Bush's first election win was rigged thanks to his brother and Florida, makes you wonder what the world would have been like had somebody stood up at the time?
@eagleswing44 are you really American? Americans don't spell 'realise' with an 's.' It is always spelled realiZe ('z') in North America (US & Canada). Brit in disguise, perhaps? ;-)
@eagleswing44 and just curious, why spell realize as realise then? Only British/Australian people do that. Canadians and Americans always spell it as realize.
@cuno858 I'm living proof that all Americans don't spell realise with a z"! Look it up in the dictionary and then find something more meaningful and inlightening to talk about, OK?
@cuno858 And you are a "natural born moron"! So are you crack heads now insinuating that because one does not spell realize with a z they are not natural born Americans? Am I really reading. What kind of drugs are being tampered with out there where you are? Are you one of those midwesterners cause I hear some strange stuff goes on out there.
@nolano2010 Actually all the elections before this one were about race. This was the only one that wasn't. It's about race when median demographics control the masses. Obama has substance. It was about wanting a leader who was the real deal, and having enough with settling for people who looked the part but were not up to the task. Tired of "the package" with nothing inside. That's what change and hope means. We did more than elect a black man, we elected a good man, and for both we are proud.
@TexasDistortion Aretha's happier than she ever was because her fathers and Dr Kings dream are becoming a reality. We've still got a ways to go but true progress is never easy! Look at how long it took America to pass a civil rights act. God's truth is marching on!
And that's the tune of god save the queen, it's not actually the same lyrics at all dispshits... Nice job. We changed the lyrics shortly after our revolution to distance ourselves further from the crown.
I remember being there for this and seeing the crowd all around... Almost Everyone was happy and peaceful that day. It may not have been the best performance of her life, bit it was obviously the most inspiring and important of her career. Bravo
@damhar The ones who scour these sights with insults don't know the first thing about beautiful, gospel filled, soul and R&B music. I just laugh at them because they really are pathetic. Go to another damned spot if you don't like it.
God bless Aretha. This will be remembered as one of the greatest performance of the 21st Century. You could feel the emotion and the heart behind it. I cried openly when I watched it on television. I was overwhelmed with patriotism and pride in my country, especially when I reflected on how far we've come with the historic election of Obama as our 44th President.
Thank you Aretha. This is a tribute that America will never forget.
@mafaon321 well said and I feel the same today as I did then about President Obama...it moved me to tears again today when they played on NPR/ Fresh Air tribute to Dr. King who said ..."there will be a day when all of God's children sing with new meaning, 'My Country 'Tis of Thee"...I remember Obama's Inauguration with great pride and joy, and I only hope this can be true for ALL Americans some day
Aretha was being herself, I don't see why people are so down on her for this performance. She sounds like somebody's momma singing out from her heart.
for those who say she can't sing: i wonder who do you listen to because nobody does it better than her...she has one or two equals but no one is superior.
I love how all the haters are saying she can't sing. When i SERIOUSLY doubt they've been singing for 60 years. and have accomplished nothing compared to her.
Go listen to her songs back when she was young, let me put it like this, you wont be able to comprehend how amazing she is. Shes a Legend, more then MJ
She may have had a career thats spanned a long time but no one can say with honesty that this performance was any good I like aretha, but this was aweful!
the injustice and brutalities of racial injustice, Yet, despite this having mapped out and forging a career that spans many decades and insurmountable successes.
You are obviously oblivious and void of knowledge in history and probaly racist. This historic figure was chosen due to the prophetic nature of this election to King's words and having been personally witness to
She should not have been chosen to sing this song. Her voice is terrible at her age. Should've gotten someone else - Patti Labelle or Barbra Streisand would've been better.
I can't stand people pretending this actually sounds good.
She was not out of key. People always say someone was out of key when they don't sound good. There are other things that can make a voice sound questionabke aprt from being off-key. Aretha is a legend but her natural voice placement is not on her side when it comes to aging thus causing the pitchiness, scratchiness, wobble and nasal sounding tendency to her voice.
True, all things being equal, her voice seemed often screechy and somewhat shallow, and that was the main problem. So I may have talked too fast in that respect, and your post made me regret my wording. Yet the lady's pitch was approximative in some vibratos, and to me, 2:39 is plain off. But it's in no way a disgrace. In other words, she didn't sing off key, but she sometimes was, for physical reasons.
This country was called the land of the free by Samuel Francis Smith. Kind of funny he called i that while blacks were walking around in chains. Samuel is a racist cocksucker. Samuel, his song and the American empire can suck a monkeys cock.
Magnificent! The undisputed Queen. This woman is a living legend. No one else could have carried the torch of song this day but her. She was one of many who was there through the struggle and her voice is a natural resource. Let freedom ring! Give it to em Queen!
SHe IS THE besT VOICE In AMERICA...okay but this was her worst performance...still no one maybe Jennifer Hudson or Whitney Houston can sang not sing like her

This was not good. Ree need to stop now. But to be honest, I didn't see anything special about her in her hey day; I heard plenty of singers who was just as good in many of the churchs I attended here in the south. Her voice is common enough, she was just marketed well.

So since this is all bus';s fault then obama has turned everything around and were out of debt, and the spending has stopped... oh wait. wake up shithead he is running this country into the ground and socializing everything. but wait socialism worked for greece..
TexasDistortion 1 year ago
@TexasDistortion You need to do some serious research on the Bush administrations 8 years pal. Don't just listen to made up stuff you here at the tea party rallies. Bush raised taxes for working Americans while giving tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans. It pays to educate one's self.
eagleswing44 1 year ago
@eagleswing44 When did i say i support Bush? Never. Im against socialism and the demise of our great country. And why should the wealthy pay for the poor? They worked hard to get that money i think theve earned the right to keep it. Im not rich, yet i believe in working hard and taking care of one self with out crying like a bitch to the government for handouts. man up. and while your at it do a little research on you boy obama and his minions, they are pissing on the constitutuon.
TexasDistortion 1 year ago
@TexasDistortion Yeah. Why should the wealthy pay for the poor? Why should anyone have a social conscience? Why should we help those in need? Why? Why? Why?
kingdaniel69 1 year ago
@kingdaniel69 Why have a president or a congress or a senate or a declaration of independence or a constitution? Idiocy you speak! The wealthy do not pay for the poor. The wealthy have pillaged and robbed the poor for decades in this country. Then they have the gall to expect tax breaks. It's not the rich that keep this country moving. I'll just bet you're one of those Americans who calls yourself a Christian too. "The wealth of the wicked is laid up for the just" Proverbs 13:22.
eagleswing44 1 year ago
@eagleswing44 I was being facetious earlier about why should we help others or have a social conscience, i come from a country with an amazing socialised healthcare system where you if you are sick you don't need any money we have a great welfare state too.
I am not a Christian but i help others, those less fortunate than me, i am a nurse and very proud.
You have got a hard job convincing Americans to be anything else but selfish, they'll think you are a communist! Keep up the good work.
kingdaniel69 1 year ago
@kingdaniel69 My apologies to you and may you be blessed for the good work you do. It's so unfortunately that there are so few out there like you. You are so right although most Americans have little clue as to what communism is let alone why they are using the word. Sickness and suffering has become a comodity in this nation and people continue to fall for the hype.

@eagleswing44 You do realize Obama doubled Bush's deficit in his first year, right? Just sayin...
nolano2010 1 year ago
@nolano2010 Obama is doing what he was elected to do. He helped to enact reforms such as the Healthcare bill so 43 million working Americans can recieve healthcare. He is working for the people of this nation and not just providing tax breaks and incentives for the wealthiest Americans and coporate thieves like former president Bush did! Just sayin!
eagleswing44 1 year ago
@eagleswing44 Oh that's right. He's taking the tax breaks away from the wealthy and raising taxes for everyone. My bad. You're right. Totally forgot about having to pay for everyone else's healthcare.
And he wasn't elected because of his ability to enact reforms. I highly doubt the entire 96-97% of African-Americans that voted for him actually care about reforms. This election was about race.
nolano2010 1 year ago
@nolano2010 If you'd stop and use your brain for a split second you will realise that African Americans make up roughly 13% of the US population. Although most of us voted for him I highly doubt African Americans elected Barack Obama. The Bush Administration got Barack Obama elected by putting the wealthy first and thumbing it's nose at the middle class. They also started wars that will go down in history as senseless hysteria based on lies and deception. Thanks for ending it Mr President!
eagleswing44 1 year ago
@eagleswing44 But that is another issue, Bush's first election win was rigged thanks to his brother and Florida, makes you wonder what the world would have been like had somebody stood up at the time?
kingdaniel69 1 year ago
@eagleswing44 are you really American? Americans don't spell 'realise' with an 's.' It is always spelled realiZe ('z') in North America (US & Canada). Brit in disguise, perhaps? ;-)

@eagleswing44 and just curious, why spell realize as realise then? Only British/Australian people do that. Canadians and Americans always spell it as realize.
cuno858 1 year ago
@cuno858 I'm living proof that all Americans don't spell realise with a z"! Look it up in the dictionary and then find something more meaningful and inlightening to talk about, OK?
eagleswing44 1 year ago
@eagleswing44 you're not American. You maybe be naturalized but you aren't a natural born American.
cuno858 1 year ago
@cuno858 And you are a "natural born moron"! So are you crack heads now insinuating that because one does not spell realize with a z they are not natural born Americans? Am I really reading. What kind of drugs are being tampered with out there where you are? Are you one of those midwesterners cause I hear some strange stuff goes on out there.

eagleswing44 1 year ago
@nolano2010 Actually all the elections before this one were about race. This was the only one that wasn't. It's about race when median demographics control the masses. Obama has substance. It was about wanting a leader who was the real deal, and having enough with settling for people who looked the part but were not up to the task. Tired of "the package" with nothing inside. That's what change and hope means. We did more than elect a black man, we elected a good man, and for both we are proud.
MeredithWaters 1 year ago
@TexasDistortion Aretha's happier than she ever was because her fathers and Dr Kings dream are becoming a reality. We've still got a ways to go but true progress is never easy! Look at how long it took America to pass a civil rights act. God's truth is marching on!

And that's the tune of god save the queen, it's not actually the same lyrics at all dispshits... Nice job. We changed the lyrics shortly after our revolution to distance ourselves further from the crown.

This is a tribute that America will never forget.
mafaon321 1 year ago 23
@mafaon321 well said and I feel the same today as I did then about President Obama...it moved me to tears again today when they played on NPR/ Fresh Air tribute to Dr. King who said ..."there will be a day when all of God's children sing with new meaning, 'My Country 'Tis of Thee"...I remember Obama's Inauguration with great pride and joy, and I only hope this can be true for ALL Americans some day

I'm sorry to say, Aretha was out of key, monstrously.
ARadicalAliensNoun 1 year ago
She was not out of key. People always say someone was out of key when they don't sound good. There are other things that can make a voice sound questionabke aprt from being off-key. Aretha is a legend but her natural voice placement is not on her side when it comes to aging thus causing the pitchiness, scratchiness, wobble and nasal sounding tendency to her voice.
okebaram 1 year ago 2
True, all things being equal, her voice seemed often screechy and somewhat shallow, and that was the main problem. So I may have talked too fast in that respect, and your post made me regret my wording. Yet the lady's pitch was approximative in some vibratos, and to me, 2:39 is plain off. But it's in no way a disgrace. In other words, she didn't sing off key, but she sometimes was, for physical reasons.

This was not good. Ree need to stop now. But to be honest, I didn't see anything special about her in her hey day; I heard plenty of singers who was just as good in many of the churchs I attended here in the south. Her voice is common enough, she was just marketed well.
